UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN (UI) RELEASES APPROVED DEPARTMENTAL CUT-OFF MARKS FOR THE 2026/2027 ACADEMIC SESSION
The University of Ibadan (UI) has officially released the departmental cut-off marks for candidates seeking admission into its undergraduate programmes for the 2026/2027 academic session.
The cut-off marks, released by the University’s Undergraduate Admissions Unit, contain the approved Merit, Catchment, and Educationally Less Developed States (ELDS) scores for all faculties and departments. Candidates who participated in the 2026/2027 Post-UTME screening exercise are advised to compare their aggregate screening scores with the published benchmarks to determine their admission prospects.
The newly released cut-off marks reveal that programmes in the College of Medicine, Faculty of Law, Computing, Pharmacy, and Engineering remain the most competitive this admission year.
Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry Lead Competitive Courses
As expected, Medicine and Surgery recorded the highest admission benchmark with a Merit and Catchment cut-off mark of 80.00, while the ELDS cut-off stands at 73.50.
Other highly competitive medical programmes include:
- Nursing Science – 74.50 (Merit/Catchment), 67.125 (ELDS)
- Dentistry – 72.875 (Merit/Catchment), 62.875 (ELDS)
- Medical Laboratory Science – 68.00 (Merit/Catchment), 62.25 (ELDS)
- Physiotherapy – 68.50 (Merit/Catchment), 61.625 (ELDS)
- Pharmacy – 70.375 (Merit/Catchment), 68.625 (ELDS)
- Human Nutrition and Dietetics – 58.125
- Pharmacology – 57.875
- Physiology – 55.375
- Environmental Health Science – 52.00
- Biochemistry – 51.25
Computing and Engineering Programmes Remain Highly Competitive
The Faculty of Computing also recorded impressive cut-off marks, reflecting the growing demand for technology-related programmes.
The approved merit cut-off marks include:
- Software Engineering – 75.375
- Computer Science – 74.125
- Cybersecurity – 55.75
- Data Science – 51.50
- Information and Communication Technology (ICT) – 51.00
In the Faculty of Technology, the following departmental cut-off marks were approved:
- Electrical and Electronics Engineering – 71.25
- Mechanical Engineering – 70.00
- Biomedical Engineering – 68.00
- Civil Engineering – 65.875
- Petroleum Engineering – 65.00
- Agricultural and Environmental Engineering – 57.50
- Industrial and Production Engineering – 51.25
- Automotive Engineering – 51.125
- Food Technology – 50.125
- Wood Products Engineering – 50.00
Law, Accounting and Other Professional Courses
The Faculty of Law maintained a highly competitive admission benchmark, with Law recording:
- 71.00 (Merit)
- 71.00 (Catchment)
- 69.125 (ELDS)
Similarly, programmes under Economics and Management Sciences recorded the following scores:
- Accounting – 69.50
- Banking and Finance – 56.875
- Economics – 54.25
- Marketing and Consumer Studies – 53.625
Arts Faculty Cut-Off Marks
Among Arts programmes, the highest departmental cut-off was recorded by Communication and Language Arts, which stands at:
- Merit – 61.375
- Catchment – 61.375
- ELDS – 57.00
Other programmes include:
- Linguistics – 53.375
- Theatre Arts – 53.00
- English – 51.625
- Anthropology – 50.00
- Archaeology – 50.00

Under the Faculty of Social Sciences, the cut-off marks are:
- Political Science – 51.625

Agriculture, Education and Environmental Programmes
Most programmes in the Faculties of Agriculture, Education, Renewable Natural Resources and Environmental Design and Management maintained a general benchmark of 50.00, although a few programmes recorded slightly higher scores.
Notable exceptions include:
- Agricultural Economics – 50.625
- Education and English – 52.00
- Education and Political Science – 51.00
Meanwhile, Architecture, Estate Management, Urban and Regional Planning, Quantity Surveying, Forestry, Wildlife Management, Aquaculture and Fisheries Management all retained the minimum benchmark of 50.00.
Veterinary Medicine
The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine recorded a merit cut-off mark of 55.00 across all admission categories.
Admission Categories
The released document contains cut-off marks under three admission classifications:
- Merit
- Catchment
- Educationally Less Developed States (ELDS)
While many departments maintained identical scores across all three categories, highly competitive programmes such as Medicine, Nursing, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Law, and Engineering recorded slightly lower ELDS benchmarks in line with the University’s admission policy.
Candidates are advised to compare their aggregate screening scores with the approved departmental cut-off marks before expecting admission offers.
The University is expected to commence admission through the JAMB Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) and its official admission portal for candidates who meet the approved requirements and satisfy all admission conditions for the 2026/2027 academic session.
