NORTHWEST UNIVERSITY SOKOTO RELEASES ACADEMIC CALENDAR FOR 2026/2027 ACADEMIC CALENDAR

Northwest University, Sokoto (NWUS) has officially approved its 2026/2027 Academic Calendar, following the meeting of the University Senate held on Friday, September 25, 2026.

The approved calendar contains the schedule of major academic activities for the 2026/2027 session, including admission confirmation, registration, lectures, semester breaks, examinations, marking and moderation of scripts, as well as Senate consideration of examination results.

Students and members of staff are advised to take note of the dates and plan their academic activities accordingly.

NORTHWEST UNIVERSITY SOKOTO 2026/2027 FIRST SEMESTER CALENDAR

The first semester of the 2026/2027 academic session will cover the following major activities:

Confirmation of Admission and Registration of New Students

September 21 – October 21, 2026

Newly admitted students are expected to complete the confirmation of their admission and registration within the stipulated period.

Registration of Returning Students

October 19 – October 31, 2026

Returning students are expected to complete their registration during this period.

First Semester Lectures

November 2, 2026 – February 27, 2027

Academic activities and lectures for the first semester will commence on November 2, 2026, and continue until February 27, 2027.

Mid-Semester Break

December 21, 2026 – January 2, 2027

Students will proceed on the scheduled mid-semester break during this period.

First Semester Examinations

March 1 – March 20, 2027

First-semester examinations are scheduled to hold from March 1 to March 20, 2027.

Marking and Moderation

March 22 – April 16, 2027

Following the examinations, marking and moderation of scripts will take place from March 22 to April 16, 2027.

Senate Consideration of Results

April 20 – April 22, 2027

The Senate will consider the results of the first semester examinations during this period.

NORTHWEST UNIVERSITY SOKOTO 2026/2027 SECOND SEMESTER CALENDAR

The second semester will commence after the conclusion of the first-semester academic activities and consideration of results.

Second Semester Lectures

April 26 – August 14, 2027

Lectures for the second semester are scheduled to begin on April 26, 2027, and end on August 14, 2027.

Mid-Semester Break

June 21 – June 26, 2027

Students will have their second-semester mid-semester break from June 21 to June 26, 2027.

Second Semester Examinations

August 16 – September 4, 2027

The second-semester examinations will hold from August 16 to September 4, 2027.

Marking and Moderation

September 6 – October 2, 2027

Marking and moderation of second-semester examination scripts are scheduled for September 6 to October 2, 2027.

Senate Consideration of Results

October 5 – October 7, 2027

The Senate is scheduled to consider the second-semester examination results from October 5 to October 7, 2027.

2027/2028 ACADEMIC SESSION

According to the approved schedule, the 2027/2028 academic session is expected to commence in October 2027.

Students are therefore advised to keep track of the academic calendar and make adequate preparations for lectures, examinations and other academic responsibilities throughout the session.
