NATIONAL OPEN UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA ANNOUNCES 31ST MATRICULATION CEREMONY FOR 2026_2 ACADEMIC SEMESTER

The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has officially announced the date for its 31st Matriculation Ceremony for students admitted in the 2026_2 academic semester.

According to an internal memorandum issued by the Office of the Registrar and signed by Petu Bola Keji, Deputy Registrar (Academic Registry), on behalf of the Registrar, the matriculation ceremony is scheduled to hold on Wednesday, 9th September 2026.

The university disclosed that the ceremony will be conducted virtually across all NOUN Study Centres nationwide, allowing newly admitted students from different locations to participate simultaneously.

Orientation Programme for Fresh Students

Ahead of the matriculation ceremony, the university has directed all Study Centre Directors to organize an orientation programme for newly admitted students.

The orientation exercise is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, 8th September 2026, one day before the matriculation ceremony. The programme is expected to familiarize fresh students with the university’s academic regulations, learning system, student support services, and other important information necessary for a successful academic journey at NOUN.

Virtual Participation Details

Management stated that a dedicated web link, along with the participation schedule for various Study Centres and newly matriculating students, will be communicated to all concerned parties before the event.

Students are therefore advised to stay in touch with their respective Study Centres and official university communication channels for further updates regarding access to the virtual ceremony.

Study Centres Directed to Ensure Compliance

The university administration has instructed all Study Centre Directors to take note of the approved schedule and ensure full compliance with the directives regarding the orientation programme and the virtual matriculation ceremony.

The management reiterated its commitment to providing a seamless matriculation experience for newly admitted students across the country.
