The Management of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA) has directed all students of the institution to proceed on a two-week holiday with immediate effect following the ongoing industrial action embarked upon by various staff unions in the university.

According to a statement issued by the Registrar, Dr. Grace Olubunmi Babalola, the decision was taken to ensure the safety, security, and orderly management of the university community during the period of the strike.

As part of the directive, all students residing in the university’s halls of residence have been instructed to vacate their hostels immediately and return to their respective homes or other suitable places of residence for the duration of the holiday.

Management’s Directives to Students

The university advised all students to strictly comply with the following instructions:

  • Leave the university premises peacefully and in an orderly manner.
  • Take along all personal belongings, as the university will not be responsible for any items left behind.
  • Follow all directives issued by Hall Management and other authorized university officials during the evacuation process.
  • Refrain from remaining in the halls of residence or any other restricted university facilities after the commencement of the holiday.

Decision Taken in the Interest of Students

Management acknowledged that the unexpected break may cause inconvenience to students but explained that the decision became necessary due to the prevailing circumstances occasioned by the industrial action.

The university emphasized that the temporary closure is aimed at protecting members of the university community while efforts continue to resolve the issues that led to the strike.

Students have therefore been urged to remain calm, cooperate fully with the university authorities, and comply with all directives issued regarding the holiday.

Resumption to Be Announced Later

The management assured students that information regarding the resumption of academic activities would be communicated as soon as the industrial dispute is resolved and normal university operations can safely resume.

The university also expressed appreciation to students for their understanding, patience, and cooperation during the period.

In addition, the Management commended the Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for his commitment and efforts toward resolving the issues surrounding the industrial action.

The statement was electronically signed by Dr. Grace Olubunmi Babalola, Esq., FCAI, FCIPM, FIPMLD, MANUPA, MAUA, MSPSP, Registrar, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko.
