SOKOTO STATE UNIVERSITY SECURES NUC APPROVAL FOR RESOURCE VERIFICATION OF 24 NEW ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES
The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted approval for the Resource Verification of 24 additional academic programmes at Sokoto State University (SSU), marking another significant milestone in the institution’s continuous drive towards academic excellence and expansion.
The approval is expected to pave the way for the introduction of new undergraduate programmes across several faculties, thereby creating more learning opportunities for prospective students and strengthening the university’s academic offerings.
According to the university, the development reflects its commitment to expanding access to quality higher education while meeting the growing demand for skilled professionals in key sectors of the economy.

The university noted that the approval for resource verification represents an important stage in the establishment of these programmes, as the National Universities Commission will assess the availability of the required academic staff, facilities, laboratories, equipment, library resources, and other infrastructure before granting final approval for the programmes to commence.
The introduction of these programmes is expected to broaden the university’s academic portfolio, particularly in high-demand fields such as Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Engineering, Cyber Security, Software Engineering, Agriculture, and the Social Sciences.
