LADOKE AKINTOLA UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY RELEASES POSTGRADUATE ADMISSION FOR 2026/2027 ACADEMIC SESSION

Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, has invited applications from suitably qualified candidates for admission into its Regular Postgraduate Programmes for the 2026/2027 Academic Session.

The postgraduate admission covers various programmes leading to Postgraduate Diploma (PGD), Master’s degrees, Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.), M.Phil/Ph.D. and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) qualifications across several faculties of the university.

AVAILABLE POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES

FACULTY OF AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES

Available programmes include PGD, M.Tech., M.Phil., M.Phil/Ph.D. and Ph.D. in:

• Agricultural Economics
• Agricultural Extension and Rural Development
• Animal Nutrition and Biotechnology
• Animal Production and Health
• Crop and Environmental Protection
• Crop Production and Soil Science

Candidates must possess five O’Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology or Agricultural Science in not more than two sittings.

FACULTY OF ARTS AND SOCIAL SCIENCES

The Department of General Studies offers:

• Postgraduate Diploma in Social Work
• Master of Science in Social Work
• Doctor of Philosophy in Social Work

Candidates for the PGD must possess an HND with at least Lower Credit, Registered Nursing Certificate, Community Health Certificate or equivalent qualification from a recognised higher institution.

For the M.Sc. programme, candidates must possess a relevant first degree of at least Second Class Lower Division or a LAUTECH Postgraduate Diploma or equivalent qualification from another recognised university.

Candidates seeking admission into the Ph.D. programme must satisfy the M.Sc. requirements and possess an M.Sc. degree in Social Work.

The Department of Economics offers PGD, M.Sc. and Ph.D. programmes. Applicants must have five O’Level credit passes, including English Language, Mathematics and three other Social Science subjects, in not more than two sittings.

FACULTY OF BASIC CLINICAL SCIENCES

Available programmes include PGD, M.Tech., M.Sc., M.Phil., M.Phil/Ph.D. and Ph.D. in:

• Chemical Pathology
• Pharmacology and Therapeutics

Candidates must possess five O’Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

FACULTY OF BASIC MEDICAL SCIENCES

FACULTY OF COMPUTING AND INFORMATICS

The Department of Computer Science offers PGD, M.Sc., M.Phil., M.Phil/Ph.D. and Ph.D. programmes.

Candidates must possess five O’Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Biology and Chemistry.

FACULTY OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY

Applicants must possess five O’Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Agricultural Science may be accepted in place of Biology for some courses where applicable.

FACULTY OF ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES

The Department of Architecture offers M.Tech., M.Phil., M.Phil/Ph.D. and Ph.D. programmes.

Candidates must possess at least five O’Level credit passes in not more than two sittings, including English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any other two subjects from Chemistry, Biology/Agricultural Science, Economics/Geography, Building Construction, Technical Drawing and Fine Arts.

The Department of Fine and Applied Art offers programmes including:

Applicants for M.A., M.Tech., M.Phil. and Ph.D. programmes must have at least five O’Level/SSCE credit passes or equivalent in not more than two sittings, including English Language and Fine Art/Visual Art, or satisfy the applicable LAUTECH requirements.

The Department of Urban and Regional Planning offers M.Tech., M.Phil., M.Phil/Ph.D. and Ph.D. programmes.

Candidates must possess five credit passes in not more than two sittings, including English Language, Mathematics, Geography and any other two subjects from Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Economics.

FACULTY OF FOOD AND CONSUMER SCIENCES

The Department of Food Science offers PGD, M.Tech., M.Phil., M.Phil/Ph.D. and Ph.D. programmes.

Applicants must possess five O’Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

FACULTY OF MANAGEMENT SCIENCES

FACULTY OF NURSING SCIENCES

The Faculty of Nursing Sciences offers limited spaces for:

• Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing (PGDN)
• Master of Nursing Science (MNSc.)
• M.Phil.
• Ph.D.

The Department of Nursing Science offers specialisations in:

• Community/Public Health Nursing
• Maternal and Child Health Nursing
• Medical Surgical Nursing
• Mental/Psychiatric Nursing

For the MNSc. programme, candidates must possess five O’Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Possession of RN, RM, RPHN or another post-basic professional certificate registered by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria is an added advantage.

For M.Phil., M.Phil/Ph.D. and Ph.D. programmes, candidates must possess the required five O’Level credit passes. BNSc., RN, RM, RPHN or another relevant post-basic professional certificate registered by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria is also an added advantage.

FACULTY OF PURE AND APPLIED SCIENCES

Available programmes include PGD, M.Tech., M.Sc., M.Phil., M.Phil/Ph.D. and Ph.D. in:

• Biochemistry
• Earth Science
• Pure and Applied Biology
• Pure and Applied Chemistry
• Pure and Applied Mathematics

Candidates must possess five O’Level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

SPECIFIC ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Postgraduate Diploma

Candidates seeking admission into PGD programmes must possess a B.Tech., B.Sc., B.Eng., BMLS or B.A. degree with at least Third Class in a relevant discipline.

Holders of an HND in a relevant discipline must have at least Lower Credit.

Candidates with MBBS and DVM qualifications may also be considered for Postgraduate Diploma in Biochemistry.

M.Tech., M.Sc. and M.A. Programmes

Applicants must possess a relevant B.Tech., B.Sc., B.Eng., B.A. or BMLS degree with at least Second Class Lower Division.

Candidates with B.Pharm. or a relevant PGD must have a minimum score of 60 to qualify for M.Tech. or M.Sc. programmes.

M.Phil. and Ph.D. Programmes

Candidates for M.Phil. programmes must have a minimum weighted average score of 50 in their Master’s degree, while Ph.D. applicants must have a minimum weighted average score of 60.

Applicants for Ph.D. programmes may be required to commence with M.Phil/Ph.D., where applicable.

Ph.D. in Business Administration

Applicants must possess an M.Sc., M.Tech. or M.Phil. in Management Sciences, including Business Administration, Management, Human Resource Management, Financial Management, Marketing or Entrepreneurship, from a recognised institution with a minimum weighted score of 60.

Candidates may also be required to satisfy departmental requirements through a written or oral selection examination.

Nursing Programmes

For the MNSc. programme, applicants must possess a BNSc. or B.Sc. Nursing degree from a recognised university, with at least a pass where the certificate is unclassified, or Second Class Lower Division.

Candidates who scored between 50% and 54% in an MNSc. or M.Sc. Nursing programme may be eligible for M.Phil. Nursing.

Candidates with a weighted score of 60 in MNSc. or M.Sc. Nursing are eligible for Ph.D., while those with scores between 55% and 59% are eligible for M.Phil/Ph.D.

DURATION OF PROGRAMMES

The minimum duration for the full-time postgraduate programmes is as follows:

Interested candidates are required to obtain the application form online through the LAUTECH postgraduate application portal.

The application fee is ₦20,000, excluding applicable bank charges.

Payment is to be made using an Interswitch-enabled debit card (ATM card).

Applicants are expected to complete the online application form and print the completed form after submission.
