The University Senate, during its 32nd meeting held on Wednesday, 3rd September 2025, approved and released comprehensive modalities for intra-university (change of course) and inter-university transfers. This decision is aimed at guiding students who wish to either change their course within the institution or transfer from other universities into the school. The procedures and requirements are outlined below and must be followed strictly by all interested applicants

To begin the application process, candidates are to visit the official application portal by clicking INTER/INTRA-UNIVERSITY TRANSFER APPLICATION PORTAL

On the portal, they are required to complete the application form for a change of course or inter-university transfer. The completed application form must be submitted alongside relevant supporting documents.

Applicants must possess a minimum of five credits in O’ Level, including Mathematics and English Language. This is a mandatory academic requirement for all candidates. However, acceptance of any application is subject to the availability of space in the requested department.

In addition, candidates must attach their academic transcript, which will be reviewed as part of the evaluation process. For candidates interested in transferring into highly competitive courses such as MBBS and BDS, they must have attained a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.01 and above. For those seeking admission into Nursing Sciences and other courses, a minimum CGPA of 3.50 is required.

Applicants must secure clearance and release from their current department, Faculty, and the University as a whole. After this, they must also receive acceptance from the new department, Faculty, and University authority.

As part of the process, all applicants are expected to pay the prescribed non-refundable fees. The breakdown of the applicable fees is as follows:

– Change of course form: 50,000.00 naira

– Acceptance fee for change of course within the University: 250,000.00 naira

– Transfer from public universities within Nigeria: 500,000.00 naira

– Transfer from private universities within Nigeria: 2,500,000.00 naira

– Transfer from foreign universities: 3,000,000.00 naira

It is important to note that applicants must have completed any pre-requisite courses required by the department they are transferring into, if applicable. Furthermore, all candidates must regularize their transfer with JAMB and must fill out the indemnity form as part of the process.

The University emphasizes that candidates can only be transferred once. Therefore, students are encouraged to carefully consider their decision before initiating the transfer or change of course process.
