OGUN STATE INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, IGBESA (OGITECH) DEBUNKS FALSE AI-GENERATED IMAGE PURPORTING TO SHOW ARMED MEN AT INSTITUTION’S GATE

The attention of the Management of the Ogun State Institute of Technology, Igbesa has been drawn to a malicious and misleading image currently circulating on social media, depicting masked gunmen standing in front of the institution’s main gate.

We wish to categorically state that the image is false, fabricated, and AI-generated, and does not represent any real event or security situation within or around the campus. At no time has such an incident occurred at the institution.

Members of the public, students, parents, staff, and other stakeholders are therefore, advised to disregard the image and any accompanying narrative intended to create fear, panic, or confusion.

The creation, publication, and dissemination of false information capable of causing public alarm, damaging the reputation of an institution, or misleading the public is a serious crime, and the Management strongly condemns this act and warns individuals involved in creating, sharing, or deliberately promoting such false contents to desist immediately.

The institution has commenced efforts to identify the source(s) of the misleading publication, and anyone found culpable may be reported to the appropriate law enforcement and regulatory authorities for investigation and possible prosecution in accordance with the law.
