MEDICAL AND DENTAL COUNCIL OF NIGERIA GRANTS FULL ACCREDITATION TO NNAMDI AZIKIWE UNIVERSITY MBBS PROGRAMME, INCREASES QUOTA TO 300

The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) has granted full accreditation to the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, following a recent accreditation exercise conducted at the university.

The development marks a significant milestone for the university’s medical programme and has also led to an increase in the institution’s admission quota for the MBBS programme.

MBBS ADMISSION QUOTA INCREASED FROM 100 TO 300

Following the successful accreditation exercise, the admission quota for the MBBS programme at Nnamdi Azikiwe University has been increased from 100 to 300 students.

This means the university will now be able to admit up to 300 students into its medical programme, subject to the applicable admission requirements and other regulatory conditions.

MDCN CONCLUDES ACCREDITATION EXERCISE

The development followed the conclusion of the MDCN re-accreditation exercise for the MBBS programme and the accreditation exercise for the Dental programme at the university.

The accreditation process is part of the regulatory assessment of medical and dental training programmes in Nigerian universities.

Reacting to the development, the Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Professor Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, expressed gratitude to God for the successful outcome.

The Vice-Chancellor said:

The full accreditation and increased admission quota represent an important development for the university community, particularly prospective medical students seeking admission into the MBBS programme.
