UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA, NSUKKA (UNN) RELEASES GUIDELINES FOR POST-UTME ONLINE APTITUDE TEST FOR 2026/2027 ACADEMIC SESSION

The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) has released comprehensive guidelines for candidates participating in its 2026/2027 Post-UTME Aptitude Test, outlining the requirements, examination procedures, and rules governing the online screening exercise.

The University noted that while the guidelines have been released, the official date for the Post-UTME Aptitude Test will be announced later. Candidates are therefore advised to familiarize themselves with the instructions ahead of the examination, as failure to comply may result in disqualification or other disciplinary actions.

UNN Post-UTME Will Be Conducted Online

According to the University, the Post-UTME screening will be conducted as a competitive online examination under remote examination surveillance.

Candidates are expected to remain fully compliant with all examination regulations throughout the test, as both audio and video activities will be monitored and recorded to ensure the integrity of the examination.

Laptop Requirement and Internet Connection

UNN stated that candidates must take the examination using a laptop computer equipped with an integrated webcam and microphone.

The University emphasized that the following devices are strictly prohibited:

  • Mobile phones
  • Tablets
  • External webcams
  • Virtual cameras
  • HDMI-connected displays
  • Other similar external devices

Candidates are also responsible for providing a stable internet connection before and throughout the examination.

Examination Rules

To ensure a smooth examination process, candidates must observe the following:

  • Remain fully visible within the webcam frame throughout the examination.
  • Ensure the webcam is never obstructed.
  • Sit in a quiet environment free from distractions or interruptions.
  • Ensure the examination room is properly illuminated.
  • Access the examination only on the assigned date and scheduled time.
  • Dress appropriately to allow clear identification throughout the examination.

The University also prohibited the use of:

  • Face masks
  • Face caps (including fez caps)
  • Headphones
  • Earbuds
  • Wristwatches
  • Bracelets
  • Smart glasses
  • Any wearable electronic device

Candidates’ faces and ears must remain clearly visible throughout the examination.

Duration of the Examination

The Post-UTME Aptitude Test will last 30 minutes.

The examination timer begins immediately after the candidate clicks the “Start” button.

Candidates may submit the examination after answering all questions using the “Submit” button, while unanswered examinations will be automatically submitted once the allocated time expires.

How to Access the Examination

Candidates are expected to access the examination through the UNN portal by following these steps:

  1. Visit the UNN Portal (unnportal.unn.edu.ng).
  2. Click on “Take PUTME Exam.”
  3. Enter your JAMB Registration Number and Examination OTP.
  4. Carefully read all instructions before clicking “Start Examination.”
  5. Allow access to the webcam and microphone.
  6. Click “Join Room” to enter the virtual examination room and begin the test.

Examination Misconduct

The University warned that examination malpractice will not be tolerated.

Candidates are prohibited from:

  • Allowing another person into the examination environment.
  • Receiving assistance from any individual.
  • Communicating with another person during the examination.
  • Reading examination questions aloud.
  • Using prohibited electronic devices.
  • Logging into the examination platform using multiple devices.
  • Switching browser tabs during the examination.

UNN stated that only one browser tab is permitted throughout the examination.

Any violation of these rules may lead to:

  • Cancellation of the examination.
  • Disqualification from the admission screening exercise.
  • Other disciplinary measures considered appropriate by the University.

Mock Examination Scheduled for August 22

To enable candidates test their devices and internet connectivity before the main examination, UNN has scheduled a Mock Examination.

Mock Examination Date:
Saturday, 22nd August, 2026

Time:
10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Candidates interested in participating must pay a ₦1,000 mock examination fee after completing registration through the UNN portal.

The University clarified that the mock examination is intended only to test:

  • Device compatibility
  • Browser functionality
  • Webcam and microphone performance
  • Internet connectivity
  • Overall system readiness

The results of the mock examination will not be considered in the admission process.

How to Register for the Mock Examination

Candidates should:

  • Select “Application for Post UTME Mock Exam” on the UNN portal.
  • Enter their JAMB Registration Number and Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR).
  • Receive an OTP through their registered email address.
  • Complete registration using the OTP.
  • Generate the mock examination invoice.
  • Pay the required ₦1,000 through Remita.
  • Return to the portal to complete registration and print the acknowledgment slip.

Candidates are advised to keep their acknowledgment slips, as they contain important examination details.

Additional Instructions

The University advised candidates to use the same laptop, internet connection, and examination environment intended for the actual Post-UTME during the mock examination.

Candidates are solely responsible for ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply and internet connectivity throughout both examinations.

UNN also stated that it reserves the right to:

  • Verify candidates’ identities before, during, or after the examination.
  • Investigate reports of technical failures or examination malpractice.
  • Suspend, postpone, reschedule, or cancel the examination where necessary.
  • Make final decisions on all matters relating to the conduct and outcome of the Post-UTME screening.
