Nigeria’s first private university dedicated entirely to medical and health sciences, PAMO University of Medical Sciences (PUMS), Port Harcourt, has officially commenced its Post-UTME registration for the 2026/2027 academic session.

Following the national JAMB policy meeting benchmarks, PUMS has set its internal standards to ensure only the most dedicated medical aspirants join its ranks.


I. MINIMUM UTME SCORE & ELIGIBILITY

As seen in the official announcement, the university has established a clear threshold for applicants:

  • General Minimum Score: 170 in the 2026 UTME.

  • Medicine & Surgery (MBBS) Exception: Candidates aiming for the MBBS programme are traditionally required to have significantly higher scores, typically 220 and above (with realistic competitive scores often exceeding 280).

  • Choice of Institution: You must have chosen PUMS as your First Choice in the 2026 UTME. If you didn’t, you must apply for a Change of Institution on the JAMB portal to qualify for screening.


II. AVAILABLE PROGRAMMES

PUMS offers specialized training across several medical and allied health faculties:

III. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

To be eligible for the screening exercise, candidates must provide:

  1. O’Level Credits: Five (5) credit passes in relevant subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English Language, and Mathematics) in no more than two sittings.

  2. JAMB Result: A valid 2026 UTME result showing a score of 170 or above.

  3. CAPS Upload: Your O’Level results must be uploaded to the JAMB Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).


IV. HOW TO REGISTER

The application process is strictly online. Follow these steps to secure your spot:

  1. Visit the Portal: Log on to pums.edu.ng and click on the “Admissions” menu.

  2. Verify Eligibility: Enter your JAMB Registration Number to confirm you meet the 170+ score requirement.

  3. Complete the Form: Provide your personal details and upload necessary documents (O’Level results, Birth Certificate, and Letter of Attestation).

  4. Make Payment: Pay the application fee (typically ₦2,000 – ₦10,000 as per current directives) via the portal’s payment gateway.

  5. Print Clearance: After successful payment and submission, print your screening clearance form.


V. IMPORTANT DATES

  • Registration Status: IN PROGRESS (Ongoing as of May 2026).

  • Screening Schedule: Exact screening dates for different faculties will be communicated via the portal and to the email/phone number provided during registration.
