MOSHOOD ABIOLA POLYTECHNIC (MAPOLY) ANNOUNCES MATRICULATION CEREMONY AND OATH TAKING CEREMONY

The Management of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta, has formally ratified Wednesday, March 18, 2026, as the statutory date for the 2025/2026 Matriculation and Oath-Taking Ceremony. This event marks a significant evolution in the institution’s academic traditions with the introduction of the Maiden Matriculation Lecture. By integrating a high-level intellectual discourse into the formal induction of National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) candidates, MAPOLY is reinforcing its commitment to producing graduates who balance technical proficiency with ethical integrity.

Pillar I: The Synergy of Character and Competence

The centerpiece of this year’s ceremony is the matriculation lecture titled “Building a Solid Foundation: The Synergy of Character and Competence.” Delivered by Ven. Samson Kunle Popoola, a seasoned executive and cleric, the lecture aims to provide a philosophical roadmap for the new intake.

In the contemporary Nigerian labor market, technical “competence” (the ability to perform specific tasks) is often insufficient without “character” (reliability, ethics, and emotional intelligence). By choosing this theme, MAPOLY is signaling to its ND and HND students that their three to four years on campus must be a period of holistic development. The Otunba Gbenga Daniel (OGD) Auditorium will serve as the venue for this discourse, starting at 10:00 AM prompt.

Pillar II: Eligibility and Statutory Participation

Participation in the matriculation and oath-taking exercise is not automatic; it is the final stage of the enrollment funnel. Only candidates who have successfully completed their 2025/2026 Academic Session registration are recognized as “matriculants.”

  • Verification: Students must ensure their names are on the official matriculation register maintained by their respective School Officers.

  • The Oath: The ceremony involves a legally binding public declaration where students pledge to uphold the rules and regulations of the polytechnic.

  • Security Protocol: Management has issued a strict directive for non-essential persons to vacate the campus during the event. This “Sterile Campus” policy is designed to ensure the safety of the students and the orderly conduct of the academic procession.

Pillar III: Digital Integration and Global Accessibility

Recognizing the limitations of physical seating and the desire for parental involvement, MAPOLY has deployed a multi-channel digital coverage strategy. The event will be live-streamed across the following platforms:

Platform Handle / URL Purpose
Official Website www.mapoly.edu.ng Central hub for all ceremony updates and digital programs.
Facebook @mapolyinfo Interactive live stream for alumni and the general public.
YouTube @mapolyinfo High-definition archival recording and live broadcast.

Pillar IV: Administrative Timelines and Compliance

The Information and Protocol Unit emphasizes that all staff and prospective students must be seated by 9:30 AM. This 30-minute buffer before the 10:00 AM start time is essential for the arrangement of the academic procession, which includes the Rector, Deans, and Heads of Departments.

For students, this ceremony is the moment they transition from “prospective candidates” to “bona fide students” with assigned Matriculation Numbers. These numbers will serve as their primary identification for all future academic transactions, including examinations and results processing.

Conclusion: Launching a Career of Distinction

The 2025/2026 Matriculation at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic is a fusion of tradition and forward-thinking academic policy. As the OGD Auditorium opens its doors on March 18th, the institution is not just filling seats; it is planting the seeds of professional excellence. Prospective students are urged to finalize any pending registration details to ensure their inclusion in this historic inaugural lecture and oath-taking ceremony.
