The Management of Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi (JOSTUM), through the Office of the Registrar, has formally issued an internal memorandum dated April 2, 2026, regarding a significant adjustment to the academic calendar. This directive serves to notify all students, parents, and the university community that the previously scheduled resumption date has been officially deferred until further notice.

The university administration emphasizes that this decision was reached after careful deliberation to ensure that all logistical and administrative frameworks are fully optimized before students return to the campus environment.

REVISED RESUMPTION STATUS AND RATIONALE

According to the memorandum signed by Dr. John U. David, FCA, the scheduled return of students originally fixed for Tuesday, April 7, 2026, will no longer hold. The postponement is attributed to several critical factors:

  • Easter Festivities: To allow students and staff sufficient time to observe the Easter holiday period with their families without the pressure of immediate travel.

  • Administrative Regularization: To address unresolved internal matters that are essential for maintaining a smooth, conducive, and safe academic environment for the upcoming semester.

  • Infrastructure Readiness: To ensure that campus facilities and security protocols are fully prepared to receive the student body.

DIRECTIVE TO THE STUDENT BODY

In light of this development, the University Management provides the following guidance to all undergraduate and postgraduate students:

  1. Stay at Home: All students are strongly advised to remain at their respective homes and refrain from traveling to Makurdi or the campus until a specific date is announced.

  2. Official Communication: Students should disregard any unofficial resumption dates circulating on social media or third-party blogs. The new date will be communicated exclusively through the Official University Website and verified internal memos.

  3. Academic Preparedness: Students are encouraged to utilize this extended period for private study and to ensure all remote registration requirements are completed.

MANAGEMENT APPRECIATION AND COMMITMENT

The University Management expresses its sincere appreciation for the patience, understanding, and cooperation demonstrated by the students during this transition period. The administration remains committed to providing a world-class learning experience and ensuring that the welfare of every “Tarkalite” is prioritized above all else.

CONCLUSION: STANDBY FOR FURTHER UPDATES

Further information regarding the specific new resumption date will be released in due course following the resolution of the pending administrative tasks. All stakeholders are urged to stay tuned to official university channels.

Signed: Dr. John U. David, FCA Registrar
