KOGI STATE POLYTECHNIC (KSP) ISSUES NOTICE ON RESUMPTION OF ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES FOR THE 2025/2026 ACADEMIC SESSION
The Academic Board of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, at its emergency meeting held on Monday, 4th September, 2025, has officially approved the Academic Calendar for the 2025/2026 Academic Session. This significant decision was made in a bid to ensure proper planning, timely commencement of academic activities, and a smooth academic year for both new and returning students.
According to the detailed calendar released by the Office of the Director of Academic Planning, the resumption date for the new academic session has been scheduled for Monday, 15th September, 2025. This date applies to all fresh and returning students, with the exception of those currently undergoing their Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES). Students on SIWES are expected to resume at a later date, which has been fixed for Monday, 8th December, 2025.
The Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, on behalf of the entire Management and the Academic Board, extended warm wishes to all students as they prepare to return to campus. He urged them to travel safely and remain committed to their academic goals, assuring them of the institution’s readiness to provide a conducive learning environment and all necessary support for their success.
Students are advised to adhere strictly to the dates and deadlines stated in the calendar, as compliance is essential for a smooth and hitch-free academic year. The management also used the opportunity to encourage both staff and students to work together in ensuring that the 2025/2026 academic session is productive and successful.
Following the resumption, registration for the session is set to begin immediately on 15th September, 2025. The regular registration period will run through to Friday, 10th October, 2025, giving students ample time to complete all necessary documentation and payment procedures. However, students who are unable to meet this deadline will still have an opportunity to register during the late registration period, which will take place from Monday, 13th October to Friday, 17th October, 2025. It is important to note that late registration will attract a penalty fee of five thousand naira (₦5,000).
Furthermore, the institution has also announced the schedule for orientation and matriculation ceremonies for newly admitted students. These important events, which serve to formally welcome and induct new students into the polytechnic community, will hold from Monday, 27th to Wednesday, 29th October, 2025.
The orientation programme will introduce the new students to the institution’s rules, academic expectations, support services, and the general campus environment, while the matriculation ceremony will officially mark their acceptance into the polytechnic.
Wishing all students a wonderful academic session ahead!

LASU Refutes Admission Racketeering Claims, Reaffirms Merit-Driven Policy
2025/2026 ADMISSION EXERCISE: A VICTIM OF OUR OWN SUCCESS
Over the past few days, the University has followed with keen attention the numerous social media posts and comments relating to the ongoing 2025/2026 admission exercise at Lagos State University (LASU).
Ordinarily, the University owes no applicant any explanation as to why he/she was, or was not, admitted. However, a troubling and potentially misleading narrative has begun to circulate on social media, particularly with regard to allegations of admission racketeering by members of staff. As a responsive institution, LASU cannot remain silent, for silence risks allowing misinformation to harden into accepted truth.
It is therefore important to establish the following facts for the benefit of the public:
i. Lagos State University Law 2004 (As amend), Ch. L69, Vol. 7, Section 3, item “m”, provides that “the University shall have the power to adopt a merit-driven admission policy, open to Nigerian and International students, with special preference for Lagosians, using a guiding principle of 70:30 (Lagos State Indigenes : Others), whenever possible.” This means that, after the merit list (strictly based on performance) is released, Lagos State indigenes are prioritised before candidates from other states are considered.
ii. In line with this principle, the University has offered admission to candidates of all origins who achieved the highest scores in each course (merit admission), as well as all qualified, cleared, and verified indigenes of Lagos State (supplementary and discretionary admission). Any indigene who has not yet received an offer is encouraged to keep checking their status, as more admission lists will be released.
It is also worth noting that LASU was the most subscribed university in Nigeria in the 2025 JAMB UTME, with over 70,000 applicants. Given that fewer than 20% of that number can be admitted, it is regrettable but inevitable that many otherwise qualified candidates will not gain admission. This reality explains – though it does not justify – the frustration being expressed on social media.
What concerns the University most, however, are the allegations of admission racketeering. While it is not inconceivable that a few unscrupulous individuals may falsely claim to “sell” admission slots, the truth remains that the power to admit students rests solely with the Vice-Chancellor. No member of staff has the authority or capacity to offer admission in exchange for money. Candidates are therefore strongly advised that anyone making such claims is preying on desperation and cannot deliver on such promises.
The university refutes, in the strongest possible terms, the suggestion that admission can be bought. We sympathise sincerely with candidates who, despite strong results, could not be admitted, but LASU cannot be coerced or blackmailed into exceeding its approved capacity.
Nonetheless, Management takes allegations of racketeering seriously. Applicants or members of the public with verifiable evidence are encouraged to report such cases via [email protected]. Every genuine report will be thoroughly investigated, and anyone found culpable will face the full weight of disciplinary measures.
In the end, LASU’s greatest challenge is also the clearest evidence of its progress: that tens of thousands aspire to be part of our community. We are, indeed, victims of our own success. But success also demands responsibility, on the part of the University to uphold transparency and merit, and on the part of applicants and the public to resist the temptation of misinformation. For while disappointment is temporary, truth endures, and LASU remains committed to ensuring that truth – fair, open, and merit-based- guides every admission decision.
We are LASU, We are Great!

ISA MUSA AGWAI POLYTECHNIC, LAFIA (IMAP) EXTENDS POST-UTME APPLICATION DEADLINE FOR THE 2025/2026 ACADEMIC SESSION
This is to inform the general public, especially all prospective applicants of Isa Mustapha Agwai Polytechnic (IMAP), Lafia, that the institution’s management has officially announced the extension of the deadline for the ongoing Post-UTME screening exercise and the sale of admission forms for the 2025/2026 academic session. The new deadline for the completion of these activities is now set for the 30th of September, 2025.
The announcement was made in an official statement released and signed by the Polytechnic Registrar, Zamani Habu Ibrahim, on Thursday. The management, through the statement, explained that the extension was necessary to give more time and room for candidates who are yet to complete their registration process to do so. It also serves to ensure that no eligible applicant is left out due to time constraints or technical challenges.
According to the statement, the extension is not limited to National Diploma (ND) aspirants alone but also includes candidates applying for Higher National Diploma (HND) and Pre-National Diploma (Pre-ND) programmes. This move demonstrates the institution’s commitment to inclusivity and its determination to ensure that all interested applicants are given the opportunity to apply and be considered for admission.
Prospective students who are interested in securing admission into any of the programmes offered by the polytechnic are therefore advised to take full advantage of this extended window. They are encouraged to visit the institution’s official portal or admission office to obtain the necessary forms, complete the application process, and register for the Post-UTME screening before the new closing date.
The management reiterated that this extension might be the final opportunity for interested candidates to apply, and as such, urged all applicants not to delay in completing their applications. They also reminded applicants to ensure that they meet the eligibility criteria and provide accurate information during registration to avoid disqualification.
This latest development is a welcome relief to many prospective students who may have encountered delays or missed the earlier deadline, as it gives them a renewed chance to join the academic community of Isa Mustapha Agwai Polytechnic for the 2025/2026 academic session.
