AKANU IBIAM FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC ANNOUNCES 15TH CONVOCATION CEREMONY

The Rector, Dr. Felix Uroko Attah, on behalf of the Governing Council, the Academic Board, and the entire Polytechnic community, is pleased to formally announce the 15th Convocation Ceremony. This landmark event represents a significant milestone in the institution’s academic journey, celebrating years of rigorous study, technological innovation, and institutional growth.

The Management cordially invites the general public, industry stakeholders, distinguished graduates, and well-wishers to join in this grand celebration of academic excellence.


CONVOCATION THEME AND INTELLECTUAL DISCOURSE

In line with the polytechnic’s mission to drive national development through technical expertise, this year’s ceremony is centered on a theme of global relevance:

“Technology and Global Issues: Implications for the Future of Polytechnic Education in Nigeria.”

This theme reflects the institution’s commitment to fostering critical discussions on how Nigerian graduates can navigate and lead in an increasingly digitized and interconnected world.


COMPREHENSIVE SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

The convocation festivities are structured into two primary days, combining intellectual engagement with ceremonial celebration.

1. The Convocation Lecture

  • Date: Wednesday, 15th April, 2026

  • Time: 10:00 AM Prompt

  • Venue: Polytechnic Auditorium

  • Guest Lecturer: Chief Dr. Nnia J. Nwodo

    Attendance is highly recommended for all graduands and academic staff to gain insights into the evolving landscape of global technology and education.

2. The Grand Convocation Ceremony

  • Date: Thursday, 16th April, 2026

  • Time: 12:00 PM Prompt

  • Venue: Multipurpose Sports Field

  • Key Highlights: The formal conferment of Higher National Diplomas (HND) and National Diplomas (ND), the presentation of special awards to outstanding students, and the Chancellor’s address.


VITAL INFORMATION FOR GRADUATING STUDENTS

To ensure the ceremony maintains the highest level of order and decorum, all graduands are expected to comply with the following institutional directives:

  • Academic Regalia: Convocation gowns and academic caps should be collected from the respective Departmental Offices. Collection is strictly contingent upon the presentation of valid clearance forms and evidence of payment of convocation fees.

  • Procession Protocols: Graduands must be fully dressed in their regalia and at the Multipurpose Sports Field by 11:30 AM. Latecomers will not be permitted to join the formal academic procession.

  • Alumni Induction: All graduates are reminded that they will be formally inducted into the Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic Alumni Association during the ceremony.


ADMINISTRATIVE NOTICE TO GUESTS

The Management is excited to welcome families and friends to the campus. To ensure a comfortable experience for all:

  • Security: All guests are requested to cooperate with the University Security Unit at the main gate.

  • Seating: Designated seating areas will be provided for parents and well-wishers on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • Media: Professional photography and recording are permitted within the designated guest areas.
