The inauguration of the newly elected executives, led by President Bolaji Akinpelu, marks the end of a decade characterized by the absence of a central, formal platform for student advocacy and representation.

HISTORICAL CONTEXT: FROM SUSPENSION TO RESTORATION

The suspension of the University of Lagos Student Union (ULSU) a decade ago was an administrative response to a series of crises involving student protests and internal union conflicts that disrupted the academic calendar. Since then:

• Stakeholder Advocacy: For years, alumni, student activists, and staff unions consistently called for the return of the union to serve as a bridge between the “Gown” (students) and the “Management.”
