The Management of Northwest University (NWU), Kano (formerly Yusuf Maitama Sule University), has officially announced the timeline for the physical verification and scrutiny of original documents. This exercise is a critical final step for all newly admitted UTME and Direct Entry (DE) students for the 2025/2026 academic session.

According to a directive from the Directorate of Examination, Admissions, and Records (DEAR), the exercise will be held at the City Campus (Ado Bayero House, Kofar Nassarawa).

Faculty-Based Verification Schedule

To ensure an orderly process, students must attend only on the date assigned to their specific faculty. The exercise begins at 9:00 a.m. daily.

Faculty Group Verification Date
Education & Arts Monday, February 2, 2026
Science Tuesday, February 3, 2026
Computing Thursday, February 5, 2026
Social & Management Sciences Friday, February 6, 2026
Basic Medical, Clinical & Allied Health Sciences Monday, February 9, 2026

Mandatory Documents Checklist

All students are required to present original copies of the following credentials for inspection. It is highly recommended to also bring four (4) photocopies of each document for submission:

  1. JAMB Result Slip: Your official result slip or Direct Entry (DE) registration slip.

  2. SSCE O’Level Results: Original certificates or statement of results (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, etc.).

  3. NWU Post-UTME/DE Slip: Your acknowledgement slip printed during the university screening registration.

  4. Academic Transcripts: (Strictly for Direct Entry candidates) These are required for the verification of your previous ND, NCE, or IJMB results.

  5. Identification: It is also wise to carry your Primary School Leaving Certificate, Indigene Certificate, and Birth Certificate (or Declaration of Age) as these are often requested during central documentation.

Important Instructions for a Smooth Process

The university management, through the Senior Statistics Officer, Muhammad Madi Muhammad, has emphasized the following for all freshmen:

  • Punctuality: Arrive at the City Campus early to join the queue for your faculty.

  • Strict Adherence: Do not attempt to visit on a day not assigned to your faculty, as officials will only process students according to the published schedule.

  • Medical Certificate: Note that as part of the broader registration, you will also need to visit the University Clinic for a medical certificate, which usually follows the screening stage.

Note: Successful verification is the “green light” to proceed with online fee payment and course registration. Students who fail to show up during their assigned window may be considered to have forfeited their admission offer.
