The Polytechnic’s screening activities are designed to verify candidate eligibility, confirm relevant academic credentials, and ensure that all admissions follow due process as mandated by the institution and the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

With thousands of applicants seeking placement yearly, Kano State Polytechnic emphasizes the importance of early preparation, proper documentation, and strict adherence to the schedule provided.

  • Date: Thursday, 13th November 2025

  • Time: 10:00 AM prompt

  • Venue:
Academic Department, Central Administration, Buk Road, Kano
    Kano State Polytechnic Main Campus

Candidates are strongly advised to arrive early to avoid delays and to give themselves enough time for documentation and verification before the roll call begins.

Screening to Hold Twice Weekly

Beyond the first day, the Polytechnic has also announced that the screening exercise will continue on a bi-weekly basis, holding on:

  • Wednesdays

  • Thursdays

  • Time: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM

This flexible schedule is aimed at accommodating the large number of applicants and ensuring that every qualified candidate has ample opportunity to be screened within the stipulated time.

The institution further emphasized that the screening will run on a first-come, first-served basis, meaning early arrival increases a candidate’s chances of smooth and prompt processing.

Mandatory Screening Requirements

To participate in the screening exercise, all candidates must come with the complete set of required documents. Failure to submit any of these documents may lead to disqualification or delays in the verification process.

The required documents include:

1. Declaration of Age / Birth Certificate

Candidates must provide evidence of their date of birth. Acceptable documents include a court Sworn Declaration of Age or an official Birth Certificate issued by a recognized authority.

2. National Identification Number (NIN) Slip

A printed copy of the NIN slip from the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) is compulsory. The institution uses this for identity verification and data consistency.

3. O’Level Result (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB)

Applicants must bring original and photocopies of any of the following approved secondary school leaving examination results:

  • WAEC

  • NECO

  • NABTEB

These results must show the required credit passes needed for the chosen programme.

4. JAMB Registration Slip

This slip serves as proof of UTME registration and must clearly show the candidate’s details and programme of choice.

5. JAMB Result Printout

Candidates must provide their official UTME result showing their scores. This document is essential in verifying that the applicant meets the minimum cut-off mark for ND/NCE programmes.

6. Change of Institution Slip (Green Card)

All candidates who changed their institution to Kano State Polytechnic on JAMB CAPS must present the JAMB Green Card as evidence that the change was successfully processed.

7. Evidence of O’Level Result Upload on JAMB Portal

Candidates are expected to have uploaded their O’Level results to the JAMB CAPS portal. Proof of this upload must be presented. Candidates without verified uploads risk losing their admission.

8. Two (2) Copies of Screening Slips

After completing any pre-screening registration or printing online slips, candidates should come with two copies of their screening acknowledgement slips for easy processing.

Conduct and Dress Code Expectations

Kano State Polytechnic reminds all candidates that the screening is a formal academic exercise. Therefore, candidates must conduct themselves in a respectable, disciplined, and orderly manner throughout the process.

  • Decent dressing is strongly advised.

  • Indecent or provocative outfits will not be tolerated.

  • Candidates should avoid disruptive behavior and be courteous to staff and fellow applicants.

The Polytechnic stresses that a candidate’s conduct during screening may indirectly reflect on their readiness for the discipline required in tertiary education.

Attendance and Roll Call Procedure

Immediately upon arrival at the screening venue, each candidate must write their name in the attendance register provided. This helps the admissions team monitor turnout, maintain order, and manage the first-come, first-served system effectively.

Candidates are expected to remain within the designated waiting area until their names are announced during the roll call. Those absent during roll call may need to rejoin the queue or return on another screening day.

Why Early Preparation Matters

As one of the largest polytechnics in the northern region of Nigeria, Kano State Polytechnic attracts thousands of applicants from various states. The institution’s screening process is stringent and transparent, ensuring that only qualified candidates are considered for admission into ND and NCE programmes.

Early preparation is critical for the following reasons:

  • Helps avoid last-minute document issues

  • Reduces the risk of missing a screening session due to crowding

  • Allows sufficient time to resolve errors in JAMB documents

  • Increases chances of quick processing

Candidates are therefore encouraged to gather all required documents ahead of time, make photocopies, and organize them neatly.
