LAGOS STATE OF UNIVERSITY SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (LAUSTECH) RELEASES ACADEMIC CALENDAR FOR 2025/2026 ACADEMIC SESSION

LASUSTECH Releases Approved Academic Calendar for 2025/2026 Session

The Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), Ikorodu, has officially released its approved academic calendar for the 2025/2026 academic session. This calendar is very important for students, staff, and parents as it provides a clear breakdown of the entire school year, including dates for resumption, registration, lectures, examinations, breaks, and other key academic activities.

The calendar is carefully structured into two main semesters (First and Second), with each semester clearly mapped out to help students prepare in advance for academic and non-academic engagements.

🔹 First Semester (All Colleges)

The First Semester of the 2025/2026 session will officially begin with the resumption of returning students on Monday, 6th October 2025, and will continue until Friday, 14th November 2025. This six-week window gives ample time for returning students to settle down, register for their courses, and adjust to the new academic year.

Fresh students will resume a week later, beginning their registration and clearance from Monday, 13th October to Friday, 21st November 2025. This process includes document verification, payments, and allocation of matriculation numbers. To help new students blend into university life, orientation programmes will take place from Monday, 24th November to Friday, 28th November 2025, where freshers will be introduced to the academic and social culture of the school.

The matriculation ceremony for new students has been fixed for Wednesday, 3rd December 2025. This event formally welcomes new intakes into the university community.

Lectures for the semester will start on Monday, 13th October 2025, and will run smoothly until Friday, 16th January 2026. During this period, students will engage in academic activities across different colleges.

A short Christmas and New Year break has been scheduled between Monday, 22nd December 2025 and Sunday, 4th January 2026, allowing students to celebrate the festive season before returning to continue their academic activities.

After lectures end, a one-week revision period will run from Monday, 19th January to Friday, 23rd January 2026, giving students time to prepare adequately for examinations.

The First Semester examinations will commence on Monday, 26th January 2026, and end on Friday, 13th February 2026. Once exams are over, students will observe a two-week semester break from Monday, 16th February to Friday, 27th February 2026.

Results processing will take place during this same period (16th–27th February 2026), after which departments and colleges will deliberate on outcomes between Monday, 2nd March and Friday, 6th March 2026. A special senate meeting will then be held on Tuesday, 10th March 2026 to finalize and approve the semester’s results.

🔹 Second Semester

The Second Semester begins almost immediately with students’ registration from Monday, 2nd March to Friday, 13th March 2026. Lectures officially commence on Monday, 2nd March 2026, and will run until Friday, 29th May 2026.

During this semester, the Students’ Union Week will be held between Monday, 4th May and Friday, 8th May 2026, giving students an opportunity to engage in social, cultural, and leadership activities.

After lectures, students will enjoy a revision week from Monday, 1st June to Friday, 5th June 2026 before the semester examinations begin. The Second Semester exams are scheduled to hold from Monday, 8th June to Friday, 26th June 2026, bringing the session’s academic activities to a close.

For 100 Level and 200 Level students, the long vacation starts after exams on Monday, 29th June and runs until Friday, 2nd October 2026. Meanwhile, 300 Level students will embark on a three-month SIWES (Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme) programme beginning Monday, 6th July until Friday, 25th September 2026.

Students in 400 Level, particularly those in the College of Engineering and Technology (COE&T), will go for a longer six-month SIWES programme from Monday, 2nd March to Friday, 4th September 2026. This industrial training is vital as it bridges classroom knowledge with practical workplace experience.

Examination scripts marking and processing of results will be handled from Monday, 29th June to Friday, 10th July 2026, while departments and colleges will deliberate on results between Monday, 13th July and Friday, 17th July 2026. The Senate will consider the Second Semester results on Tuesday, 21st July 2026.

Students will then proceed on a long vacation from Wednesday, 22nd July to Friday, 2nd October 2026, after which the new academic session (2026/2027) officially begins on Monday, 5th October 2026.

🔹 Public Holidays

The academic calendar also highlights important public holidays within the session, which include:

🎄 Christmas: Thursday 25th – Friday 26th December 2025

🌙 Eid el-Fitr: Friday 20th March 2026

🐑 Eid el-Kabir: Wednesday 27th – Thursday 28th May 2026

✝️ Easter: Friday 3rd April & Monday 6th April 2026

👷 Workers’ Day: Friday 1st May 2026

🗳️ Democracy Day: Friday 12th June 2026

These breaks give students an opportunity to rest, celebrate, and rejuvenate before returning to academic activities.

🔹 Key Notes

Each semester in LASUSTECH is designed with the following structure:

✔️ 12 weeks of lectures

✔️ 1 week of revision

✔️ 3 weeks of examinations

✔️ 2 weeks of result processing

For students on SIWES, the arrangement is slightly different:

300 Level students spend 12 weeks (3 months) on industrial training.

400 Level Engineering and Technology students spend 6 months on SIWES, which serves as a practical capstone for their academic programme.

🔹 Conclusion

The release of this calendar is a vital step in preparing for the 2025/2026 academic session at LASUSTECH. With clear dates for lectures, exams, breaks, and industrial training, students can now plan their time effectively and stay ahead in their studies.

Parents and guardians are also encouraged to take note of these dates, especially regarding resumption, breaks, and examinations, so they can better support their wards throughout the academic year.

Ultimately, this calendar reflects LASUSTECH’s commitment to academic excellence, proper planning, and smooth operation of the university system. Students are therefore advised to study it carefully and prepare themselves for a successful session ahead.
