NABTEB releases examination date
The National Business and Technical Examinations Board, NABTEB, has said it will begin its NBC/NTC examinations from Sept. 21 to Oct. 15.
The Registrar and Chief Executive of NABTEB, Prof. Ifeoma Isiugo-Abanihe, disclosed this in a statement in Abuja on Sunday, NAN reports.
Isiugo-Abanihe said that the National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) for JSS 3 Students’ admission to Technical Colleges had been brought forward from Oct. 3rd to Sept. 5th.
”While commending the Federal Ministry of Education and all state Ministries of Education and their stakeholders, for excellent planning and a smooth resumption of school and examinations for the exit classes, I wish to, on behalf of my Board NABTEB provide the following updates on our examinations”, she said.
“A reminder that the NABTEB NBC/NTC examinations will soon commence on Sept. 21, and end on Oct. 15, as already announced by the Federal Ministry of Education.
“The National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) for JSS 3 Students’ admission to Technical Colleges has been brought forward from Oct. 3 to Sept. 5.
“This is in consideration of the convenience of JSS candidates seeking admission to Technical Colleges who will be concluding their BECE examinations on Friday, Sept. 4.”
She further disclosed that with the new date, there would not be any need for students to go back to school on Oct. 3 for another examination.
She added that the deadline for registration of candidates for the NBC/NTC examinations had been extended to Sept. 4, to accommodate requests from various states that had not been able to complete registration of their students due to exigencies arising from the COVID-19 lockdown.

JAMB lifts suspension on printing of admission letters, university transfers, others
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has announced the lifting of suspension it earlier placed on printing of admission letters, inter-university transfers among others.
The board, in a statement, Sunday, by its Head of Media and Public Relations, Dr Fabian Benjamin, said; “all requests for printing of admission letters, inter-university transfers, condonement of illegitimate admissions and other processes for previous years which had been hitherto suspended would now be restored from Monday, 31st August 2020.”
“To ensure that candidates who took the UTME prior to 2020, and who require certain corrections of their processes are accommodated, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has lifted the suspension earlier placed on processes covering those years,” he said in the statement.
According to the statement, “it is to be noted that most of these operations are only available at JAMB offices nationwide. Furthermore, as the Board is desirous of sustaining compliance with COVID-19 protocols, it maintains that 2020 UTME candidates desirous of these services will only be attended to through the Appointment Booking Platform which they could access online through their phones to secure a definite date and time for an appointment. ”
“The Board urged all State offices to ensure that all clients comply with all existing COVID -19 protocols,” he said.
The statement read in full: “To ensure that candidates who took the UTME prior to 2020, and who require certain corrections of their processes are accommodated, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has lifted the suspension earlier placed on processes covering those years.
“As you may be aware, the need to prevent overcrowding at its Computer-Based Test Centres and other partner facilities, in line with extant COVID -19 protocols issued by relevant agencies, led it to allow candidates to seek corrections and other processes only through the 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME)or Direct Entry (DE) platforms. This measure had the intended effect of limiting the number of persons visiting the centres.
“As government continues to ease the lockdown leading to the resumption of students in exit classes, the number of 2020 UTME candidates needing one service or another at the various centres has drastically gone down, thus, the Board has decided to open up its platforms to accommodate more requests especially from previous years.
“Therefore, all requests for printing of admission letters, inter-university transfers, condonement of illegitimate admissions and other processes for previous years which had been hitherto suspended would now be restored from Monday, 31st August, 2020.
“However, it is to be noted that most of these operations are only available at JAMB offices nationwide. Furthermore, as the Board is desirous of sustaining compliance with COVID-19 protocols, it maintains that 2020 UTME candidates desirous of these services will only be attended to through the Appointment Booking Platform which they could access online through their phones to secure a definite date and time for an appointment.
“The Board urged all State offices to ensure that all clients comply with all existing COVID -19 protocols.”

President of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Chris Isiquzo Ikechukwu stated that the coalition intend to carry out this agitation by occupying the office of the Head of Service of the Federation until their needs are met.
Sabastine Onyemaobi, President of Higher National Diploma Holders Association of Nigeria (HNDHAN), added that the white paper had not been implemented for almost 14 years and appealed to the President to attend to this because anything that affects a particular set of government affects the entire system.

Four PhD, 200 master’s degree holders apply for Federal Government’s N20,000 sweeping jobs
According to a report by The PUNCH, 4 PhD holders, 200 master’s degree holders have applied for the Federal Government’s unskilled job offer targeting 774,000 Nigerians under the Special Public Works programme overseen by the Minister of State for Employment, Labour and Productivity, Mr Festus Keyamo (SAN).
Under this programme, 774,000 Nigerians, 1,000 people from each of the 774 local government areas of the country, who are expected to be unskilled workers will earn N20, 000 each on a monthly basis for three months.
However, during an interview with The PUNCH, the Ogun State Chairman of Special Public Works, Senator Gbenga Obadara, said four doctoral and 200 Master’s degree holders were among 20,000 applicants in the state.
While answering a question from one of the interviewers, Senator Gbenga Obadara said; “Four PhD and 200 master’s degree holders have applied.”
“Poverty is ravaging. Unemployment is extremely on the high rise. People with master’s degrees and even PhD degrees are applying for 20,000 jobs. That is the problem. It cannot cover everybody. We cannot blame the Federal Government.” he added.
Obadara said the committee started distribution of forms four weeks ago and that almost 20,000 persons from 20 local government areas had obtained the forms.
