The Management of Yobe State University (YSU), through the Student Affairs Division under the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, has formally ratified the schedule for the 2026 Academic Session Matriculation Ceremony. This milestone event serves as the official induction of newly admitted students into the university’s academic community, granting them the full rights and privileges of recognized scholars.

The ceremony is specifically mandatory for all 100 Level and 200 Level Direct Entry (DE) students who have completed their screening and registration.

CEREMONY SCHEDULE AND TARGET AUDIENCE

The university has designated a single day for the collective swearing of the matriculation oath. Students are expected to be fully dressed in academic regalia and seated before the commencement of the official procession.

  • Date: Tuesday, March 31, 2026.

  • Eligible Candidates: All newly admitted 100L and 200L (DE) students.

ACADEMIC REGALIA: COLLECTION AND FEES

To participate in the ceremony, students must obtain the official university matriculation gown. The Bursary and Student Affairs departments have established a structured timeline for distribution.

  • Administrative Fee: N500 (Payable at the Bursary Department).

  • Collection Window: Thursday, March 26, to Monday, March 30, 2026.

  • Daily Distribution: From 10:00 AM.

RETURN POLICY AND PENALTIES

The university maintains a strict accountability framework for all academic property. Students are personally responsible for the safety and timely return of their assigned gowns.

  • Return Deadline: Tuesday, April 7, 2026.

  • Late Return Penalty: N1,000 (Applied for exceeding the stipulated return period).

  • Note: Gowns must be returned in good physical condition to avoid additional replacement costs.

OFFICIAL AUTHORIZATION AND COMPLIANCE

This directive, signed by Gambo A. Ali (Students Affairs Officer) on behalf of the University Management, carries the weight of a formal academic mandate. Students are urged to adhere strictly to these guidelines to ensure the matriculation exercise is conducted with the necessary decorum.

CONCLUSION: SECURING YOUR ACADEMIC IDENTITY

Matriculation is the final formal step in becoming a recognized member of the YSU community. Ensure you have settled your N500 fee and secured your gown before the Monday deadline.
