YABA COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY (YABA TECH) ISSUES IMPORTANT NOTICE ON HND1 REGISTRATION EXERCISE FOR 2025/2026 ACADEMIC SESSION

The Management of Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), through the Office of the Deputy Rector (Academics), has formally ratified a high-priority update regarding the 2025/2026 Academic Session registration for Higher National Diploma (HND I) students. In an internal memorandum dated March 27, 2026, the college expressed significant concern over the volume of students who have yet to finalize their academic documentation.

To maintain the integrity of academic records and ensure only bonafide students are recognized, the College has implemented immediate restrictions on lecture participation and attendance validation.

NEW ATTENDANCE PROTOCOLS: “NO MATRIC NUMBER, NO ATTENDANCE”

The Deputy Rector has directed a shift from temporary identification to permanent statutory records. The following rules are now in effect across all departments:

  • Matriculation Numbers Only: Effective immediately, only students who have completed their registration and been issued an Official Matriculation Number are permitted to sign attendance sheets during lectures.

  • Restriction on YCT Numbers: The use of temporary “YCT Numbers” (Application/Screening numbers) for academic purposes has been terminated. These numbers are no longer valid for appearing on official attendance lists or continuous assessment records.

  • Enforcement Mandate: Deans of Schools have been instructed to ensure that Heads of Departments (HODs) and Lecturers strictly enforce these guidelines. Any attendance signed using a temporary number will be considered void.

INSTITUTIONAL SCOPE: AFFECTED SCHOOLS AND FACULTIES

This directive is not localized but applies to the entire academic structure of the College. The memorandum has been officially circulated to the Deans of the following major faculties:

  1. School of Technology

  2. School of Engineering

  3. School of Management & Business Studies

  4. School of Science

  5. School of Environmental Studies

  6. School of Arts, Design & Printing

  7. School of Liberal Studies

  8. School of Agriculture

URGENT ACTION REQUIRED FOR HND I STUDENTS

The College Management is urging all affected HND I students to prioritize the completion of their registration to avoid being disenfranchised from their academic activities. Failure to appear on the official attendance register may lead to:

  • Ineligibility for Examinations: Students who do not meet the minimum attendance percentage due to registration delays will not be cleared for exams.

  • Loss of Student Status: Continued reliance on temporary numbers may result in the system flagging the student as “inactive” or “withdrawn.”

CONCLUSION: STREAMLINING ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

YABATECH remains committed to a digital and transparent academic system. This directive ensures that every student attending lectures is fully accounted for within the college’s central database. Students are advised to resolve all pending issues with the Admissions Office or ICT Centre immediately.
