UNIVERSITY OF CALABAR (UNICAL) SUSPENDS 19 STUDENTS OVER ALLEGED EXAMINATION MALPRACTICE

The University of Calabar (UNICAL) has suspended 19 students for one academic session over alleged examination malpractice. The suspension followed the recommendations by the university’s Students’ Disciplinary Committee, which were ratified by the institution’s Senate.

According to a statement issued by the university, the affected students will remain suspended throughout the 2025/2026 academic session and are expected to resume their studies in the 2026/2027 academic session.

The students are drawn from several faculties and departments, including Administration, Social Sciences, Biological Sciences, Arts, Education, Allied Medical Sciences, Pharmacy, Environmental Sciences, Nursing Science, Peace and Conflict Studies, Science Laboratory Technology, Estate Management, and Marketing.

The university also directed all deans, heads of departments, and other relevant officials to strictly enforce the suspension, reaffirming its commitment to maintaining academic integrity and discipline.
