SA’ADU ZUNGUR UNIVERSITY, GADAU (SAZUG) GETS NUC’S APPROVAL FOR 12 NEW ACADEMIC PROGRAMMES

​Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZU), has recorded another significant milestone in its academic development following the approval of twelve (12) new undergraduate and postgraduate academic programmes by the National Universities Commission (NUC).

​The approval, contained in a letter dated 15 June 2026, followed a successful resource assessment exercise conducted by the Commission, which confirmed the University’s readiness in terms of academic personnel, physical infrastructure, library resources and other facilities required for the commencement of the programmes.

​The newly approved programmes, which will commence in the 2026/2027 Academic Session, are:

​Undergraduate Programmes

  1. ​B.A. (Ed.) Arabic
  2. ​B.A. (Ed.) Hausa
  3. ​B.A. (Ed.) Islamic Studies
  4. ​B.A. Sharia
  5. ​B.Sc. Social Work
  6. ​B.Sc. (Ed.) Agricultural Science
  7. ​B.Sc. (Ed.) Human Kinetics
  8. ​B.Sc. (Ed.) Health Education

​Postgraduate Programmes

  1. ​M.Ed. Educational Management
  2. ​Doctor of Business Administration (DBA)
  3. ​PGD, LL.M. and Ph.D. Law
  4. ​PGD, M.Sc. and Ph.D. Sociology

​Official Statements and Remarks

​Commenting on the development, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Fatimah Tahir, described the approval as a major milestone that reflects the University’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence, quality assurance and the expansion of its academic offerings.

​Professor Tahir expressed appreciation to the National Universities Commission for its confidence in the University’s capacity to mount the new programmes. She also thanked the Executive Governor of Bauchi State and Visitor to the University, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, CON, for his consistent support and commitment to the growth of higher education in the State.

​The Vice-Chancellor further commended the Governing Council, Senate, Management, academic and non-academic staff for their dedication and collective efforts, noting that the approval was a product of teamwork and institutional commitment.

​She assured prospective students and other stakeholders that the University would continue to provide the necessary human and material resources to ensure the successful implementation of the programmes in line with the quality assurance standards of the National Universities Commission.
