A convocation is a very special time—it’s like a giant graduation party where the university celebrates several years of students at once. Since this is a Combined 29th and 30th ceremony, it means double the celebration!

Celebrate Success: The 29th & 30th Combined Convocation Ceremony

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibrahim Umar, together with the University Council and Senate, is delighted to invite the general public, parents, and the entire university community to a landmark event. This ceremony is the “Grand Finale” for our students, where they officially receive their degrees and become proud alumni.

Why is this ceremony special?

A “Combined Convocation” is a rare event. It brings together two different sets of graduates to celebrate their hard work together. Whether you are a student, a proud parent, or a well-wisher, this is a moment of history you won’t want to miss.

What to Expect During the Convocation

A convocation isn’t just one hour; it is usually a series of exciting events. Based on traditional university protocols, here is what typically happens:

1. The Convocation Lecture

Before the degrees are given out, a distinguished guest usually gives a “big talk” on an important topic. It’s a chance for the university to share wisdom with the world.

2. The Award of Degrees

This is the part everyone waits for! Students from all faculties will wear their colorful academic gowns and caps. When their names are called, they become official graduates.

3. Honorary Awards

The university often gives special awards to great leaders or heroes in society to thank them for their service to humanity.

4. The Vice-Chancellor’s Address

Prof. Ibrahim Umar will share the university’s recent wins, new buildings, and future plans for the school.

Important Information for Graduating Students

If you are one of the lucky graduates, please keep these simple steps in mind:

  • Academic Gowns: Make sure to visit your faculty office early to rent or buy your gown. You cannot join the procession without it!

  • Arrival Time: Convocation ceremonies usually start very early in the morning (often 9:00 AM). Aim to be seated at least 30 minutes before the start.

  • Inviting Guests: Most universities give out “Invitation Cards” for guests. Check how many people you are allowed to bring to ensure everyone has a seat.

  • Photos: There will be many beautiful spots around campus for photos. Capture these memories—you earned them!
