MCPHERSON UNIVERSITY RENEWS APPOINTMENT OF DR. OLUMUREWA KAYODE AS ACTING DEAN OF STUDENT AFFAIRS 

The Management of McPherson University, Seriki Sotayo, Ogun State, has approved the renewal of the appointment of Dr. Olumurewa Kayode Oladele as Acting Dean, Student Affairs, with retroactive effect from August 1, 2026, for the 2026/2027 academic session.

As Acting Dean, Student Affairs, Dr. Olumurewa will be responsible to the Vice Chancellor on matters relating to student welfare, discipline and conduct. He will also be responsible for promoting a disciplined, conducive and student friendly environment that supports learning, character development and the overall wellbeing of students.

Dr. Olumurewa holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science (2021), an M.Sc. in Materials Science (2017) and a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Physics (2012), all from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Nigeria. He joined McPherson University in October 2017 and has served in various academic and administrative capacities. Before his renewed appointment, he served as Acting Director of the University’s Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) from 2019 to 2025.

He has also served in several leadership and committee positions, including Chairman, Students’ Disciplinary Committee; Chairman, Junior Staff Disciplinary Committee; Chairman, College Welfare Committee; and Male Hall Master. He has served as a member of the University Governing Council, Senate, College Board of Studies, University Board of Chaplaincy, Ceremonies Committee, Branding Committee and Directorate of Sports, among others. He is a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry, United Kingdom, and The Electrochemical Society, United States, and has received research grants and international fellowships, including the MIT ETT Postdoctoral Fellowship (2025) and PTDE Ph.D. Scholarship (2019).

Dr. Olumurewa’s renewed appointment reflects his experience and contributions to the University community, particularly in student administration and welfare.
