The Lagos State University Management, at its Special Virtual Meeting held on *Friday, 8th August 2025* deliberated on the Communiqué with respect to the Meeting of Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat with the Joint Action Committee of the Lagos State University Staff Unions, the University Management, and other relevant stakeholders and noted as follows:

1) The referred meeting was convened on *Thursday, 7th August 2025* by the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat to resolve the issue of the twenty-three (23) months’ arrears arising from the implementation of the 25% / 35% salary increase in the University.

2) The Deputy Governor noted that the Lagos State Government had domesticated the implementation of 25% / 35% salary increase in December 2024 with immediate effect thenceforth. However, in view of the staff unions agitation for twenty-three (23) months’ arrears, the government on compassionate grounds, approved the payment of twelve (12) months out of the twenty-three (23) months’ arrears. It was resolved that twelve (12) months of the arrears would be paid;

3) The state government would pay nine (9) months’ arrears in three (3) monthly instalments, effective August to October 2025 while the University Management would pay the balance of three (3) months from November 2025 to January 2026.

The University Management further noted from the Communiqué as follows:

a. The Deputy Governor promised to further discuss with the Governor regarding the Unions’ request for 20% salary increase as promised by Mr Governor to all civil servants in Lagos State in 2023 during his electioneering campaign;

b. The Joint Action Committee of the staff unions promised to convene its Congress on Friday, 8th August 2025, with a view to suspending the strike effective Monday, 11th August 2025; and

c. All relevant stakeholders at the meeting duly signed the Communiqué.

The University Management, after exhaustive deliberation, *directed* that all staff members of the university should *resume duty effective Monday, 11th August 2025* AND also urged them to go about their normal duties peacefully.

The University Management expresses its sincere appreciation to all staff members for their patience, understanding, and continued cooperation throughout this period.

Thank you.

Signed.
