Karl Kumm University, Vom, Nigeria, has officially announced the appointment of Professor Yakubu Yerima Jabil as the new substantive Vice-Chancellor of the institution.

Professor Jabil succeeds Professor Audu Nanven Gambo, whose tenure as Vice-Chancellor is scheduled to end on 20th May, 2026. The appointment marks a new chapter in the university’s commitment to academic excellence, visionary leadership, and institutional growth.

According to a statement signed by the institution’s Registrar, Benjamin Dachomo, the appointment was approved by the second Board of Trustees of the University after a special meeting held to consider the report submitted by the Governing Council.

Professor Yakubu Yerima Jabil is a distinguished academic and accomplished scholar with over three decades of experience in teaching, research, administration, and community service. A Professor of Physics at the University of Jos, he is widely recognized as a renowned Theoretical and Mathematical Physicist with a strong reputation for academic excellence and leadership.

Born on 12th August, 1970 in A’Baraya, Gindiri, Plateau State, Professor Jabil obtained his B.Sc, M.Sc, and Ph.D in Physics from the University of Jos. He also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) from the National Teachers Institute, reflecting his passion for quality education and academic development.

Throughout his career, Professor Jabil has served in several strategic academic and administrative capacities both at the University of Jos and Karl Kumm University. His leadership style has consistently been described as visionary, disciplined, innovative, and committed to institutional advancement.

Beyond administration, Professor Jabil has made remarkable contributions to the academic community through research, mentorship, and scholarly publications. He has supervised numerous undergraduate, postgraduate, M.Phil, and Ph.D theses, helping to shape the next generation of scientists and researchers in Nigeria and beyond.

He has also published extensively in reputable local and international journals and presented scholarly papers at several conferences and academic forums.

In addition to his academic accomplishments, Professor Jabil has contributed immensely to national development and community service through election duties, mentorship programmes, church leadership, and external examining responsibilities in various Nigerian universities.

He is a respected member of several professional organizations, including the Nigerian Institute of Physics and the National Association of Mathematical and Theoretical Physics.
