FG Declares Tuesday Public Holiday to Honour Late President Muhammadu Buhari

In continuation of the national mourning declared by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Federal Government has announced Tuesday, July 15, 2025, as a public holiday in honour of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Team Campusinfo reports, This was disclosed in a statement by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government, following presidential approval.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo said the holiday is intended to pay tribute to the former president’s years of dedicated service, his role in shaping Nigeria’s democracy, and the legacy he leaves behind.

“President Muhammadu Buhari served Nigeria with dedication, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to the unity and progress of our great nation. This public holiday provides an opportunity for all Nigerians to reflect on his life, leadership, and the values he upheld,” the Minister stated.

He encouraged Nigerians to use the day to honour Buhari’s memory by promoting peace, patriotism, and unity in line with his aspirations for the country.

As previously directed, national flags are to remain at half-mast for the seven-day mourning period which commenced on Sunday, July 13.

The government also extended condolences to Buhari’s family, the people of Katsina State, and the nation at large, praying for the peaceful repose of his soul.
