FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF HEALTH SCIENCES AND TECHNOLOGY, TSAFE (FUHSATT) GETS NUC APPROVAL FOR MBBS, BDS, NURSING & 16 NEW UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMMES
The Federal University of Health Sciences and Technology, Tsafe (FUHSATT) has officially received approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to commence 18 full-time undergraduate degree programmes, effective from the 2026/2027 academic session.
The approval was conveyed in a letter dated 9th July, 2026, signed by the Acting Director of Academic Planning, Abubakar M. Girei, on behalf of the NUC Executive Secretary, Professor Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu. The approval followed a successful resource verification exercise conducted by the Commission to assess the University’s readiness in terms of human and material resources.

The newly approved programmes include:
- MBBS – Medicine and Surgery
- BDS – Dentistry
- B.Sc. Complementary and Alternative Medicine
- B.EHS – Environmental Health Sciences
- B.Sc. Medicinal Chemistry
- B.HIM – Health Information Management
- BMLS – Medical Laboratory Science
- B.NSc – Nursing Science
- B.Sc. Human Nutrition and Dietetics
- B.OT – Occupational Therapy
- DPT – Physiotherapy
- B.Rad. – Radiography
- D.Pharm – Pharmacy
- B.Sc. Artificial Intelligence
- B.Sc. Biotechnology
- B.Sc. Computer Science
- B.Sc. Data Science
- B.Sc. Software Engineering
VICE-CHANCELLOR REACTS
Reacting to the approval, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibrahim Adamu Yakasai, mni, described the development as a landmark achievement for the university.
According to him, the approval reflects the institution’s commitment to building a world-class university dedicated to excellence in health sciences, technology, research, and innovation.
IMPORTANT NOTE
The NUC clarified that the approval applies only to the full-time mode of study. The university is also required to retain the approved programme titles and nomenclature, while any future changes must receive prior approval from the Commission.
The management of FUHSATT has reaffirmed its commitment to providing the necessary facilities, qualified personnel, and learning environment to ensure the successful implementation and continuous growth of the newly approved programmes.
