FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC, NASARAWA (FPN) ENFORCES STRICT MONITORING OF LECTURE ATTENDANCE AND CLASS SUPERVISION FOR THE 2026/2027 ACADEMIC SESSION
The Management of The Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa (FPN), Nasarawa State, has issued a firm directive to all Deans of Schools and Heads of Department (HODs) regarding academic compliance, prompt lecture attendance, and class supervision across the institution for the 2026/2027 academic session.
In an official circular (Ref: FPN/ADMIN/98/VOL. V/526/XXX), signed by the Deputy Registrar (Academic Board), Mr. Aondohemba Hula Nyam, on behalf of the Registrar, the institution reviewed compliance levels following an earlier directive issued on 8th September, 2026, concerning the commencement of academic activities.
Findings from Institutional Compliance Checks
To evaluate adherence to the approved academic calendar, management conducted routine monitoring checks across various lecture halls and departments. The exercise revealed several critical observations:
* Commendation for Compliant Staff: A significant number of academic staff members complied with the institutional academic calendar and discharged their teaching responsibilities promptly, an effort commended by management.
* Zero Tolerance for Absenteeism: Some lecturers were found absent during scheduled class periods during routine checks, a practice management declared unacceptable and intolerable.
* Lack of Course Lecturer Identification: In most classes visited where lecturers were absent, students and Class Representatives were unable to identify the names of their assigned Course Lecturers.
Management Directives to Deans, HODs, and SERVICOM
To address these lapses and maintain academic standards, management directed Deans and Heads of Department to immediately step up proper supervision and daily monitoring across all academic units.
Key directives include:
* Ensuring Lecture Attendance: Deans and HODs must ensure all academic staff attend scheduled classes promptly and deliver lectures as timetabled.
* Submission of Course Allocations and Timetables: Academic departments must immediately make available to the Director of Quality Assurance and all Class Representatives the comprehensive list of course allocations and departmental timetables. These documents must clearly state the full names and contact telephone numbers of all assigned course lecturers.
* SERVICOM Enforcement: The Director of SERVICOM has been mandated to monitor compliance strictly across all faculties and submit regular evaluation reports directly to management for necessary administrative action.
All concerned are enjoined to take good note of this information act accordingly please. Thank you!
