Federal Government Eliminates WASSCE, NECO Exam Question Leakage – Education Minister

The Federal Government has announced that the persistent problem of examination question leakage in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and the National Examinations Council (NECO) examinations has been successfully eliminated.

The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, made this known during the maiden convocation ceremony of Miva Open University in Lagos. According to him, the achievement is the result of comprehensive reforms introduced by the Federal Government to improve the integrity and credibility of Nigeria’s examination system.

Dr. Alausa explained that the adoption of Computer-Based Testing (CBT) and a hybrid examination model has significantly strengthened examination security, making it more difficult for question papers to be compromised before or during examinations.

He added that the reforms have also led to a sharp reduction in examination malpractice, helping to restore public confidence in national examinations. The minister emphasized that the government remains committed to ensuring that every certificate earned by Nigerian students is based on merit, hard work, and academic excellence.

According to him, the Ministry of Education will continue to deploy technology-driven solutions to modernize the country’s assessment system while introducing stronger measures to safeguard the conduct of public examinations.

The announcement marks a significant milestone in the Federal Government’s ongoing efforts to transform Nigeria’s education sector and ensure that examinations are conducted in a fair, transparent, and credible manner.
