The management of the Federal College of Education (FCE), Abeokuta, has officially announced the commencement of its admission exercise for the 2026/2027 academic session.

In a statement released and signed by the College Registrar, Tonade Olabode O., the institution revealed a groundbreaking shift in its academic structure in alignment with the Federal Government’s new education policy.

The New 5-Year Dual Mandate Programme

Capitalizing on the newly introduced federal guidelines, FCE Abeokuta has launched a 5-year Dual Mandate NCE-Degree Programme.

Under this innovative policy, qualified candidates can secure admission into the 5-year pathway without writing the JAMB examination. The structure of the programme allows for a seamless academic progression broken down as follows:

Years 1–3: Candidates complete the standard Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) programme.

Years 4–5: Successful NCE candidates automatically transit into a 2-year Degree programme.

Upon graduation, students will be awarded three distinct qualifications: an NCE Certificate, a Bachelor’s Degree Certificate, and a Skill Acquisition Certificate.

Furthermore, graduates who complete the degree portion of the programme are fully eligible for mobilization into the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme, provided they are under 30 years of age.

Entry Requirements and NELFUND Access

The institution has outlined the entry requirements for prospective students eyeing the 3-year NCE foundation phase:

Candidates must possess a minimum of four (4) O’Level Credits and one (1) Pass in relevant subjects.

Acceptable examinations include WASC, NECO, and NABTEB.

In a move to ease the financial burden on students, the Registrar emphasized that individuals admitted into the college’s academic programmes will enjoy easy access to the Federal Government Students’ Education Loan (NELFUND) at zero percent (0%) interest.

Application and Enquiries

Interested candidates are advised to visit the institution immediately to begin their processing. Applications are to be routed through the JAMB-approved Institutional Professional Registration Centre located within the college campus.
