The Management of Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) has officially announced the details for its 45th Matriculation Ceremony. This milestone event serves as the formal induction of newly admitted undergraduate and postgraduate students into the university’s academic community for the 2025/2026 session.

As part of the university’s long-standing tradition of academic excellence and administrative order, the matriculation ceremony will be preceded by a mandatory two-day orientation exercise. This program is designed to familiarize fresh students with the university’s rules, culture, and digital infrastructure.

Approved Fees for Gown Hiring & Packages

During the orientation exercise, students will be issued their matriculation packages and academic gowns. Access to these items is contingent upon the payment of the approved service costs via the university portal.

  • Hiring of Academic Gown (Undergraduate): ₦10,000

  • Hiring of Academic Gown (Postgraduate): ₦15,000

  • Matriculation Packages (All Levels): ₦5,000

Note: Payment must be made through the official portal to ensure your name is captured on the clearance list for gown collection.


Step-by-Step Payment Procedure

To streamline the payment process, the university has integrated the “Sundry Fees” module on the student portal. Follow these steps to generate your payment invoice:

  1. Access the Portal: Visit the official ESUT student portal at portal.esut.edu.ng.

  2. Generate Invoice: Navigate to the “Sundry Fees” section.

  3. Select Items: Choose the options for Academic Gown Hiring and Matriculation Packages according to your level (Undergraduate or Postgraduate).

  4. Print Invoice: Generate and print the payment invoice, which will contain a unique RRR (Remita Retrieval Reference).

  5. Bank Payment: Proceed to any commercial bank nationwide to make the payment using the generated invoice.

  6. Receipt Verification: After payment, return to the portal to verify your status and print your official university receipt.


Critical Instructions for Fresh Students

  • Orientation Attendance: Attendance at both days of the orientation is compulsory. Important documents and “Freshman Packs” will be distributed during these sessions.

  • Gown Collection: Once payment is verified, students are to proceed to their respective Faculty Officers with their receipts to collect the academic regalia.

  • Matriculation Oath: The matriculation ceremony on Friday is a statutory requirement. Students who fail to take the oath and sign the Matriculation Register (the Matricula) will not be formally recognized as students of the university.

The Management wishes all new students a successful matriculation and a productive stay at the university. For further technical assistance regarding portal issues, students are directed to visit the ICT Center located within the university premises.
