The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Victor O. Adetimirin, acting on behalf of the Governing Council, Senate, and the entire university community, has formally announced the 11th Matriculation Ceremony of Edo State University, Uzairue. This ceremony serves as the official induction of the 2025/2026 academic cohort into the institution’s prestigious fold.

Matriculation is a sacred academic tradition that marks the formal transition of “admitted candidates” into “bona fide students.” It is during this event that students take the Matriculation Oath, pledging their allegiance to the university’s rules, academic integrity, and the pursuit of excellence.

Ceremonial Schedule and Venue Logistics

The university has designated the Aliko Dangote Auditorium as the venue for this significant milestone. Given the university’s reputation for precision and excellence, strict adherence to the timeline is expected. The ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, 26th February, 2026, with the main proceedings beginning at 11:00 am prompt. Guests and matriculants are required to be seated no later than 10:30 am to allow for an orderly start to the day’s events.

The Significance of the Aliko Dangote Auditorium

The choice of the Aliko Dangote Auditorium—a world-class facility—reflects the university’s commitment to providing a conducive and high-tech environment for learning. As the hub of major university functions, the auditorium will host the academic procession, which includes the Vice-Chancellor, the Registrar, Deans of Faculties, and members of the Senate. This venue represents the intersection of administrative authority and academic aspiration, providing a fitting backdrop for the formal oath-taking process.

Essential Protocol for Matriculants and Guests

To ensure the solemnity and success of the 11th Matriculation Ceremony, the university management emphasizes specific protocols. Punctuality is paramount as the academic procession begins precisely at 10:45 am. Guests who arrive late may find access to the main hall restricted to prevent disruption of the Vice-Chancellor’s entry.

Regarding academic regalia, all newly admitted students are expected to be fully dressed in their official academic gowns. These gowns are typically collected from Faculty Officers upon the presentation of a school fees payment receipt. Decorum remains a high priority for this formal academic event; a high standard of behavior is expected from all attendees, cell phones should be silenced, and movement during the administration of the Matriculation Oath is strictly discouraged to maintain the dignity of the proceedings.

Institutional Welcome and Future Outlook

This ceremony is the first step in a journey toward global competitiveness. Edo State University, known for its “Open and Distance Learning” capabilities and “Smart Campus” initiatives, welcomes its new students to a community that values innovation and character. The management congratulates the matriculants and encourages them to leverage the institution’s advanced technological resources to achieve their academic goals.
