BAMIDELE OLUMILUA UNIVERSITY OF EDUCATION, SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, IKERE-EKITI SECURES NUC APPROVAL FOR 33 POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES
The Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti (BOUESTI) has received approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to commence 33 postgraduate programmes from the 2026/2027 academic session.
The approval was granted following a successful resource verification exercise conducted by the NUC and communicated in a letter dated June 15, 2026, signed by the Commission’s Director of Academic Planning, Abubakar Girei.
Approved Programmes
The newly approved programmes cover Postgraduate Diploma (PGD), Master’s, and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees across several disciplines, including:
- Accounting
- Business Administration
- Entrepreneurship
- Office and Information Management
- Architecture
- Music
- Theatre Arts
- Mass Communication
- Computer Science
- Environmental Management
- Microbiology
- Industrial Chemistry
- Physics
- Economics
- Development Studies
- Political Science
- International Relations
- Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution
- Food Science and Technology
The approval also includes postgraduate programmes in various education-related fields such as Educational Management, Guidance and Counselling, English Language Education, Mathematics Education, Biology Education, Chemistry Education, Physics Education, Health Education, and Human Kinetics, among others.
Additionally, the university received approval to run a Master of Public Administration (MPA) programme.
Vice-Chancellor Reacts
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Andrew Babatunde Omojola, described the development as a major milestone in the university’s pursuit of academic excellence, research, and innovation.
According to him, the approval reflects the dedication of the university management, staff, and stakeholders, as well as the confidence reposed in the institution by the National Universities Commission.
