ASUU COMMENCES INDEFINITE STRIKE AT AAUA OVER UNPAID SALARIES

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA) chapter, has commenced a total and indefinite strike action over unpaid salaries.

​According to a notice signed by the chapter Chairperson, Comrade Bolu Oshodi, the industrial action took effect on Friday, July 10, 2026. The decision follows resolutions reached during congress meetings held on April 28 and June 18, 2026.

​Key Demands & Scope of the Strike

​The union has made its stance clear, warning that the disruption to academic activities will persist until their financial grievances are addressed:

​The Ultimatum: Members will not resume academic activities until their outstanding salaries for May and June 2026 are paid in full.

​The Scope: ASUU described the withdrawal of services as “total, comprehensive, and indefinite.”

​The Condition: The strike will only be suspended once the university authorities and the Ondo State Government clear all outstanding salary arrears.

​Government Silence and Funding Concerns

​The union also expressed deep concerns over the broader funding of the state-owned institution. Comrade Oshodi revealed that letters previously written to the Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, regarding the salary crisis have yet to receive any official response.

​With negotiations stalled and services fully withdrawn, the industrial action is expected to heavily disrupt the university’s academic calendar.
