The Management of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, Edo State, has officially announced the postponement of students’ resumption and the commencement of academic activities for the current academic session. This decision was communicated through a press release dated Friday, January 9, 2026, and approved by the University Management on behalf of the Senate under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mrs. Eunice Eboisenhien Omonzejie.

Reason for the Postponement

According to the announcement, the temporary postponement became necessary to:

  • Complete ongoing renovation works on student hostels and other campus facilities

  • Enhance the teaching and learning environment, ensuring a safer and more conducive atmosphere for students

  • Prevent disruptions in academic activities caused by incomplete or unsafe infrastructure

The University stressed that these adjustments are temporary and will ultimately benefit students by providing improved facilities and a better academic experience.

Instructions to Students

The University issued clear directives for students during this period:

  • Students residing in hostels are required to vacate immediately to allow renovation works to proceed without hindrance

  • Students should await further notice for the new resumption date

  • Compliance is mandatory, and failure to adhere to the directive may affect hostel allocations and academic participation

The Management emphasized that the cooperation of students, parents, and guardians is critical to ensuring that the planned improvements are completed efficiently.

Impact on Academic Events

The postponement affects several scheduled activities, including:

  • The 140th Inaugural Lecture, which was originally planned for Thursday, January 15, 2026, has been postponed.

  • Ongoing examinations have also been temporarily affected, and new dates will be communicated to students and faculty members in due course.

This ensures that all academic activities resume smoothly and without interruption once the renovations are complete.

University’s Message to Students and Stakeholders

The Management of AAU thanked students, parents, and guardians for their understanding and cooperation. Key points include:

  • Students must adhere strictly to the revised resumption schedule once announced

  • Parents and guardians are encouraged to inform their wards about the postponement and ensure they comply with the new arrangements

  • The University aims to minimize disruption while providing enhanced learning facilities for all students

For more information or clarification, the public and students are advised to contact the Office of the Head, Information, Protocol and Public Relations. This office will provide official updates on resumption dates, examinations, and other academic activities affected by the postponement.
