The Senate of Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUSTECH), Wudil, has officially announced a significant adjustment to the 2025/2026 academic calendar. In a memo issued by the Senate Secretariat on February 14, 2026, the university management disclosed the postponement of the First Semester mid-semester break, which was originally slated to commence on Monday, February 16, 2026.

This administrative decision, signed by the Academic Secretary, Shehu Saleh, on behalf of the Registrar, reflects the university’s commitment to ensuring that the credit-hour requirements for all courses are met before students take an academic hiatus.

The Revised Academic Timeline

The earlier scheduled break, which was intended to run from February 16 to February 22, 2026, has been canceled in favor of a more strategic “Combined Break.”

According to the new directive approved by the Chairman of the Senate, the mid-semester break has now been merged with the upcoming Sallah break. The comprehensive holiday period is now scheduled to take place as follows:

• Commencement Date: Monday, March 16, 2026.

• Conclusion Date: Tuesday, March 24, 2026.

Rationale for the Postponement

The university management highlighted two primary factors that necessitated this calendar readjustment:

1. Instructional Delays: The Senate observed that several courses experienced a delayed start in lectures at the beginning of the 2025/2026 session. Moving the break allows departments more time to achieve significant coverage of the syllabus before the semester’s first assessment peak.

2. Ramadan and Sallah Considerations: With the month of Ramadan fast approaching, the university opted to synchronize the break with the fasting period and the subsequent Sallah celebrations. This approach minimizes disruptions to the academic flow while allowing students and staff to observe their religious obligations comfortably from home.

Directives for the University Community

The Academic Secretary has urged all faculties, departments, and units to take note of this change and adjust their lecture schedules and internal assessments accordingly.

• Lectures to Continue: Students are expected to remain on campus and attend all scheduled lectures between now and March 15.

• Administrative Compliance: Staff and unit heads are directed to ensure that the “fast-track” teaching period is utilized effectively to cover lost ground.
