After Securing LASU Admission – What Next?

Congratulations! πŸŽ‰ If you are reading this, it means you have successfully been offered provisional admission into Lagos State University (LASU) for the 2025/2026 academic session. This is a big achievement, but the journey doesn’t end here β€” in fact, it’s just the beginning.

Many newly admitted students make mistakes because they don’t know the next steps after seeing their names on the admission list. Missing any important step can delay or even cancel your admission, so it’s very important you follow the right process.

Here is a detailed guide on what you should do after securing LASU admission:

1. Accept or Reject the Admission Offer on LASU Portal

Once LASU offers you provisional admission, the first thing you must do is to either ACCEPT or REJECT the offer on the LASU admission portal.

  • Log in to the LASU admission checking portal.

  • Click the appropriate link to accept the offer.

  • If for any reason you no longer want the admission (maybe you already secured another one elsewhere), you can reject it.

Tip: Most students will accept, because rejecting means you are giving up the admission completely.

2. Verify Your Admission on JAMB CAPS

LASU’s admission is not complete until it reflects on your JAMB Central Admission Processing System (CAPS).

  • Visit JAMB CAPS Portal.

  • Log in with your email and password.

  • Click Access my CAPS.

  • Check your Admission Status.

  • If it shows your LASU admission, click ACCEPT.

This step is very important because JAMB is the body that officially confirms all admissions in Nigeria. If you fail to accept it on CAPS, your admission might be considered invalid.

3. Update Your O’Level Results at a JAMB Accredited CBT Centre

If during your Post-UTME application you used β€œAwaiting Result” or your O’Level grades have changed, you need to upload the correct and complete result to JAMB.

  • Go to any JAMB-accredited CBT centre (not a cybercafΓ©).

  • Take along your WAEC/NECO/NABTEB result printout.

  • Ask them to upload it to the JAMB portal.

Without this, your admission may not be fully processed.

4. Change Your Course (If Necessary)

Sometimes, LASU might offer you a course different from the one you initially applied for. This is usually because of competition, cut-off marks, or other admission requirements.

For your admission to remain valid:

  • Visit a JAMB CBT centre.

  • Request for a Change of Course to the one offered to you by LASU.

  • Make payment (JAMB usually charges a small fee for this).

If you don’t change your course on JAMB CAPS, you might face issues during clearance and registration.

5. Pay the Acceptance Fee

The Acceptance Fee is a compulsory payment that confirms you are taking the admission slot.

  • Log in to LASU’s payment portal.

  • Follow the instructions to make payment online or at designated banks.

  • Print out your payment receipt β€” you will need it during physical clearance.

Failing to pay the Acceptance Fee within the given deadline means you have automatically rejected the admission.

6. Pay the Medical Fee

LASU requires all newly admitted students to pay for medical screening. This screening is part of the clearance process and ensures that all students are medically fit for school activities.

  • Make the payment through LASU’s payment system.

  • Keep your receipt safe.

7. Prepare for Online Clearance and Documentation

Once you have made all necessary payments, LASU will schedule dates for Online clearance. During clearance, you will upload all your documents for verification.

Documents you will likely need include:

  • WAEC Scratch Card

  • JAMB Admission Letter

  • Original Jamb Results
  • Birth Certificate or Age Declaration

  • Signature (on a white Background)

8. Get Your Matriculation Number

After all the above processes, the school will issue you a matriculation number. This is your unique identity as a LASU student and you will use it for all academic activities.

9. Pay Your School Fees

After you have been issued a matric number, LASU will open the portal for payment of school fees. The amount depends on your course and faculty. Ensure you pay before the deadline to avoid penalties or losing your admission.

10. Medical Screening at LASU Health Centre

With your Medical Fee receipt, you will undergo a simple medical examination at LASU Health Centre. They will check your blood pressure, weight, height, and sometimes do basic lab tests.

11. Attend Matriculation Ceremony

Finally, you will officially become a LASU student during the matriculation ceremony. This event marks the beginning of your academic journey at the university. You will take the matriculation oath and be welcomed into the LASU community.

FINAL TIPS FOR NEW LASU STUDENTS

  • Always keep copies of all receipts and documents β€” both printed and scanned copies.

  • Join LASU official information channels and follow updates on the school’s website.

  • Beware of scammers who claim they can β€œhelp” with your admission or clearance.

  • Attend orientation programmes to learn about the school environment, rules, and opportunities.

  • Stay organized and avoid missing deadlines β€” LASU is strict with dates.
