AFRICAN SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS (ASE) ANNOUCES SECOND MATRICULATION CEREMONY

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mahfouz A. Adedimeji, fspsp, on behalf of the Founder, Board of Trustees, Governing Council, Senate, Faculty, Staff, and the entire university community, cordially invites the general public to the 2nd Matriculation Ceremony of the African School of Economics (ASE), Abuja.

As a Pan-African institution of excellence, this ceremony marks a formal induction for the new cohort of students into an academic environment dedicated to high-level research and the socio-economic transformation of the African continent.


I. THEME OF THE CEREMONY

In alignment with the institution’s mission to address systemic challenges, the 2026 matriculation features a thought-provoking theme:

  • Theme: “University Education as a Catalyst for Poverty Eradication.”

The discourse will explore how academic rigor and specialized training in economics and social sciences can be leveraged as practical tools to lift communities out of poverty and drive sustainable development across Africa.


II. DISTINGUISHED GUEST SPEAKER

To provide deep insights into the intersection of education and human development, the university has invited a seasoned administrator and policymaker:

  • Guest Speaker: Dr. Lawal O. Olohungbebe

    • Honourable Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Kwara State.

    • Chairman, Committee of State Commissioners of Education in Nigeria (CSCEN).


III. EVENT LOGISTICS AND SCHEDULE

All matriculating students, parents, and invited guests are expected to adhere to the following schedule to ensure a dignified proceedings:

  • Date: Wednesday, April 8, 2026

  • Time: 10:00 a.m. Prompt

  • Venue: Main Hall, African School of Economics (ASE), Plot 1095, S. A. Balogun Close, Off Joseph Gonwalk Street, Gudu, Abuja.

  • Chief Host: Prof. Mahfouz A. Adedimeji, Vice-Chancellor.


IV. MANDATORY INSTRUCTIONS FOR MATRICULANTS

  1. Academic Procession: Matriculating students must be fully dressed in their academic regalia and assembled at the designated point by 09:30 a.m. to join the formal procession.

  2. The Matriculation Oath: Taking the oath is a mandatory requirement for all new students. Failure to participate in this rite and sign the matriculation register will result in the loss of formal student status.

  3. Guest Conduct: Parents and guardians are requested to be seated by 09:45 a.m. and to remain in the designated seating areas throughout the ceremony.
