The management of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi has officially released an important notice to all candidates who applied for admission into the university for the 2025/2026 academic session through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). According to the announcement signed by the Registrar, Alh. Kabiru Garba Aminu (FNIPR), the physical screening exercise for all eligible applicants will commence on Friday, 17th October 2025 and will continue until Saturday, 25th October 2025.

The screening exercise will take place at:

📍 Venue: NCC Building, Gubi Campus, along Kano Road, Bauchi
🗓 Start Date: Friday, 17th October 2025
🗓 Closing Date: Saturday, 25th October 2025

This screening is compulsory for all candidates seeking admission into ATBU for the upcoming academic year. The university has emphasized that only candidates who participate in the physical screening exercise will be considered for admission, warning that failure to attend automatically leads to disqualification from the admission process.

✅ Purpose of the Physical Screening

The physical screening exercise allows the university to:

  • Verify candidates’ academic qualifications.

  • Confirm JAMB and post-UTME registration details.

  • Authenticate submitted documents to prevent impersonation or forgery.

  • Verify candidates’ eligibility for their chosen programmes.

  • Finalize the admission selection process based on merit and institutional guidelines.

ATBU prides itself on maintaining fairness and transparency in the admission process, and the physical verification is an important step to ensure credibility and compliance with admission standards.

⚠️ Important Announcement: No Extension of Screening Date

The Registrar clearly stated that:

“There will be no extension after the closing date of Saturday, 25th October 2025.”

Candidates are therefore advised to appear for screening within the stipulated period, as latecomers will not be entertained under any circumstances. The university has made it clear that it will not consider any appeals or excuses from candidates who fail to meet the deadline.

📑 Documents Required for the Screening

All candidates must come with original copies of the following documents, as well as photocopies arranged in a file:

Required Document Description
JAMB Original Result Slip With passport photo, obtainable from JAMB portal
JAMB Admission Letter (If available) Can be printed via JAMB CAPS
Post UTME/Screening Acknowledgement Slip Printed from ATBU portal
O’Level Result (WAEC/NECO/NABTEB) Must have 5 credits including English & Maths
Certificate of Birth/Declaration of Age For age verification
Local Government Indigene Certificate Mandatory for verification
Recent Passport Photographs At least 4 copies
Application/Screening Slip Proof of application
Change of Institution Slip For candidates who changed to ATBU as first choice

Candidates who submitted awaiting results during registration must come with their complete O’Level result during screening, otherwise they risk losing their admission chance.

🎯 Who is Eligible to Attend the Screening?

The screening exercise is specifically for:

✅ JAMB candidates who selected ATBU as their first choice
✅ Candidates who scored the required JAMB cut-off mark
✅ Applicants who participated in ATBU post-UTME or online screening
✅ Candidates awaiting admission on JAMB CAPS
✅ Direct Entry candidates may also be invited (based on department requirements)

🔴 Important Guidelines for Candidates

Candidates are strongly advised to adhere to the following rules:

  • Arrive early at the screening venue to avoid long queues.

  • Dress decently and responsibly—indecent dressing will not be allowed.

  • Do not come with fake or forged documents—any candidate caught will be handed over to security agencies.

  • Parents and guardians are not allowed inside the screening hall.

  • Respect university protocols and staff on ground.

  • All COVID-19 health measures (if applicable) must be observed.

  • Photocopy and arrange all documents neatly before arrival.

🏫 About ATBU

Founded in 1980, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University is one of Nigeria’s foremost universities renowned for academic excellence in Engineering, Sciences, Agriculture, Technology, and Environmental Studies. With its vibrant learning environment and modern facilities, ATBU remains a top choice for students seeking quality education in Nigeria.

🔔 Final Reminder from the University

The Registrar concluded with a firm reminder:

“Candidates are advised to come along with all relevant original copies of their documents for verification. Your cooperation and timely compliance are highly appreciated.”

This means that failure to bring all required documents will automatically disqualify a candidate from the admission process.

✅ Conclusion

The ATBU physical screening exercise is a critical stage in the 2025/2026 admission process. All prospective students are advised to take this announcement seriously and comply with the university’s directives within the stipulated time.
