JAMB Announces 2026/2027 Admission Deadlines for Universities and Other Institutions

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has reaffirmed the approved deadlines for the conclusion of the 2026/2027 admission exercise, directing tertiary institutions to accelerate their admission processes.

The development comes shortly after JAMB restored its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) following a temporary technical disruption. The Board has urged institutions to recover the time lost and work towards meeting the agreed admission timelines.

JAMB 2026/2027 ADMISSION DEADLINES

The approved deadlines for institutions are as follows:

JAMB has particularly reaffirmed that October 31, 2026 remains the deadline for public universities to conclude their admission processes for the 2026/2027 academic session.

PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES TO CONCLUDE ADMISSIONS BY OCTOBER 31

Public universities have been given until Saturday, October 31, 2026, to conclude their admission processes for the 2026/2027 academic session.

The deadline covers institutions that are currently processing admissions and uploading candidates’ details through the JAMB admission system.

JAMB’s latest directive means public universities have a limited period to complete outstanding admission processes and ensure that eligible candidates are properly processed.

Institutions are therefore expected to intensify their admission activities and take the necessary steps to meet the approved deadline.

PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES HAVE UNTIL NOVEMBER 30

Private universities have been given an additional period to conclude their admission exercises.

The deadline for private universities is Monday, November 30, 2026.

Candidates seeking admission into private universities are therefore advised to remain in contact with their chosen institutions and monitor their admission status as the deadline approaches.

OTHER TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS HAVE UNTIL DECEMBER 31

For other tertiary institutions, the approved deadline is Thursday, December 31, 2026.

This provides institutions outside the public and private university categories with additional time to complete their respective admission processes for the 2026/2027 academic session.

Candidates in polytechnics, colleges of education and other tertiary institutions should also continue monitoring communications from their institutions and JAMB.

JAMB CAPS RESTORED

The announcement follows JAMB’s restoration of its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).

CAPS had temporarily become unavailable due to technical challenges, but JAMB has now confirmed that the platform is fully operational after the disruption.

The Board has consequently urged tertiary institutions to accelerate their admission processes to recover the time lost during the period when the system was unavailable.

CANDIDATES ADVISED TO MONITOR JAMB CAPS

Candidates participating in the 2026/2027 admission exercise are advised to regularly check their JAMB CAPS profiles for updates.

Those who have not yet received an admission offer should continue monitoring their profiles while also checking their chosen institution’s admission portal.

Candidates should note that institutions may release admission lists at different times, depending on their individual admission processes.

DEADLINE DOES NOT MEAN ALL ADMISSIONS WILL BE RELEASED AT ONCE
