AKWA IBOM STATE UNIVERSITY APPOINTS NEW REGISTRAR, BURSAR AND UNIVERSITY LIBRARIAN
The Governing Council of Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) has approved the appointment of three new Principal Officers to oversee key administrative, financial and library functions of the University.
The approval was given at the Council’s 68th Virtual Meeting, held on Monday, August 24, 2026, following its consideration of the reports submitted by the respective Interview Panels.
NEW PRINCIPAL OFFICERS APPOINTED
The newly appointed Principal Officers of Akwa Ibom State University are:
1. Mr. Mfon Solomon Ukpabio — Registrar
2. Mr. Mfon Asuquo Sam — Bursar
3. Dr. Godswill Udo Okon — University Librarian
The appointments cover three critical areas of the University’s administration, including general administration, financial management and library services.
APPOINTMENTS TO TAKE EFFECT OCTOBER 5
According to the University, the appointments will take effect from October 5, 2026.
Each of the newly appointed Principal Officers will serve for a single term of five years, in accordance with the provisions of the Akwa Ibom State University Law and the relevant statutes of the institution.
The appointees are expected to bring their experience and expertise to bear in their respective offices as the University continues to pursue its academic and institutional objectives.
COUNCIL EXPRESSES CONFIDENCE IN NEW OFFICERS
The Governing Council, under the leadership of the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Distinguished Senator Udoma U. Udoma, CON, expressed confidence in the capacity of the newly appointed Principal Officers to provide effective leadership in their respective areas of responsibility.
The Council also expects the new officers to contribute meaningfully to the continued growth and development of Akwa Ibom State University.
Their appointments are expected to further strengthen the University’s administrative, financial and library services while supporting its objectives in teaching, research, innovation and community service.
UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY URGED TO SUPPORT APPOINTEES
The University congratulated the newly appointed Principal Officers on their appointments and wished them a successful and impactful tenure.
The congratulatory message was extended on behalf of the Governing Council, under the leadership of the Chairman of Council, the Vice-Chancellor, staff, students and the entire University Community.
Members of the University Community have also been urged to accord the new Principal Officers the necessary cooperation and support to enable them effectively discharge their responsibilities.
With the appointments scheduled to commence on October 5, 2026, the new Registrar, Bursar and University Librarian are expected to play important roles in strengthening the University’s administration and supporting its continued development.
