LAGOS STATE UNIVERSITY, OJO [LASU] ANNOUNCES VACANCY FOR VICE-CHANCELLOR POSITION
Lagos State University (LASU) has officially commenced the process for the appointment of its 10th substantive Vice-Chancellor. The announcement was made through an internal and external advertisement released by the University’s Governing Council, inviting qualified and interested candidates to apply for the prestigious position.
The development marks an important milestone in the leadership transition of one of Nigeria’s leading state-owned universities. The Governing Council stated that the appointment process is being conducted in accordance with the provisions of the Lagos State University Law 2004 (as amended).

Qualifications and Requirements
According to the advertisement, interested candidates must possess a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree or a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree. Applicants must also have supervised doctoral students and attained the rank of Full Professor with several years of experience.

Age Requirement and Tenure
Applicants for the position must not be more than 65 years old at the time of assumption of office.
The successful candidate will serve a single term of five years as provided by the laws governing the university.
Application Procedure
Interested candidates are required to submit fifteen copies of their application together with a detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV) and relevant supporting documents.
The application package should include information such as academic qualifications, teaching and research experience, administrative experience, scholarly publications, grants, awards, professional memberships, and other relevant achievements.
Applicants are also expected to submit a comprehensive vision statement outlining their plans and strategies for the development of Lagos State University over the next five years.
Furthermore, candidates must provide the names and contact details of three referees who will submit confidential reports directly to the Registrar on behalf of the applicants.
Submission Deadline
Applications must be submitted under confidential cover and addressed to the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council through the Registrar of Lagos State University.
According to the advertisement, all applications must reach the university not later than six weeks from the date of publication.
The university noted that only candidates who satisfy all the stipulated requirements will be shortlisted and invited for the next stage of the selection process.
