JAMB 2026 POLICY MEETING: EDUCATION AND AGRICULTURE CANDIDATES NOW EXEMPTED FROM UTME

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that candidates seeking admission into Education programmes and Agriculture-related non-engineering courses will now be exempted from writing the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The change was announced today during the 2026 JAMB Policy Meeting, where key stakeholders in the education sector gathered to discuss policies and guidelines for the 2026/2027 admission exercise.

According to the board, the exemption applies specifically to candidates applying for Education programmes as well as Agriculture courses that are not engineering-based.

The policy is expected to increase enrollment into these critical sectors and also address the shortage of professionals in the education and agricultural industries across the country.

Stakeholders in the education sector have described the move as a major step towards improving access to tertiary education and promoting national development through agriculture and quality teaching.
