FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF EDUCATION, ZARIA ISSUES IMPORTANT NOTICE TO NEW STUDENTS ON EMAIL ACCOUNT FOR 2025/2026 ACADEMIC SESSION
The Management of the Federal University of Education, Zaria (FUEZ), through the Office of the Dean of Students’ Affairs, has reached a significant milestone in its digital transformation journey. In a formal statement released on 17th February 2026, the university announced the official launch and deployment of institutional student email accounts for all newly admitted 100-level and 200-level (Direct Entry) students.
This initiative, a brainchild of the current administration, is designed to modernize academic communication, fortify student identity management, and provide a gateway to a vast array of digital academic resources. By moving away from personal, non-verified email addresses for official business, FUEZ is aligning itself with global best practices in higher education, ensuring that every student possesses a professional digital footprint associated with the institution.
Strategic Objectives of the Digital Identity Project
The deployment of the @fuez.edu.ng email domain for students is not merely a technical upgrade; it is a strategic move to create a more integrated and secure campus environment. The Dean of Students’ Affairs highlighted several core benefits that this system provides to the undergraduate body:
-
Verified Digital Identity: Students will now have a formal identity recognized by global academic platforms, enabling them to access “student-only” discounts on software, research journals, and educational tools.
-
Secure Communication: The system provides a direct, encrypted channel for communication between students, faculty members, and the university administration, significantly reducing the risk of phishing or identity theft.
-
Centralized Academic Updates: Official notices regarding examinations, results, and campus events will be delivered directly to these institutional inboxes, ensuring that vital information is not lost in the clutter of personal mail.
-
Access to E-Learning Platforms: The institutional email will serve as the primary login credential for the university’s Learning Management System (LMS) and other e-library resources.
Sustainability and Maintenance Framework
To ensure the long-term reliability and security of this digital infrastructure, the university has introduced a nominal maintenance fee. Each student is required to make a one-time payment of ₦500, which covers a four-year period. This minor contribution is earmarked for the following critical areas:
-
Server Upkeep: Maintaining the high-speed servers required to host thousands of accounts.
-
Security Monitoring: Protecting the institutional domain from cyber threats and data breaches.
-
Technical Support: Funding a dedicated helpdesk at the ICT center to assist students with password resets and configuration issues.
-
System Upgrades: Ensuring the software remains compatible with the latest mobile and desktop operating systems.
Enrollment Schedule and Faculty Participation
The enrollment and activation exercise is scheduled to commence on 18th February 2026. To ensure an orderly process and avoid overcrowding, the university has designated the Amb. Jidda Baba Ahmad CBT Centre as the primary venue for activation.
The exercise will run daily from Monday to Friday, between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Students from the following faculties are expected to participate:
-
Faculty of Arts Education
-
Faculty of General Education
-
Faculty of Sciences Education
-
Faculty of Vocational and Technical Education
-
Faculty of Social Science Education
-
Faculty of Specialized Education
-
Faculty of Nigerian and Foreign Languages
Action Steps for Newly Admitted Students
To complete the enrollment successfully, students should follow these guidelines:
-
Preparation: Have your Admission Letter and a valid means of university identification ready for verification.
-
Payment: Follow the prescribed payment instructions at the CBT Centre to settle the ₦500 maintenance fee.
-
Verification: Present your evidence of payment to the technical officers at the Amb. Jidda Baba Ahmad CBT Centre.
-
Activation: Follow the on-site instructions to set your initial password and secure your account with Two-Factor Authentication (2FA).
The Dean emphasized that this email account will become the only recognized medium for official correspondence. Students who fail to activate their accounts may face challenges in accessing semester results or registering for upcoming courses. The administration encourages all 100L and 200L students to take advantage of this exercise to ensure their academic journey at FUEZ is fully supported by modern digital tools.
