BABCOCK UNIVERSITY, ILISHAN RELEASE ACADEMIC CALENDAR FOR 2025/ 2026 ACADEMIC SESSION

The 2025/2026 academic year at Babcock University will be a very busy, exciting, and rewarding time for both students and staff. The new school year will begin in August 2025 and continue until August 2026. There will be two semesters, a summer school session, and many special programs and celebrations along the way.

For students from 200 level to 600 level, the first semester begins in August with online registration from home. This gives them enough time to prepare before coming back to campus. Teachers, course advisors, and heads of departments will also have their workshops to get ready for the new academic year. New staff members will attend their own special training so that they can settle into their roles. By the first week of September, returning students will start arriving on campus to complete registration. Classes for these students will begin on September 8, while students who took part in the Post-SIWES semester will resume later in mid-September. On September 17, the school will celebrate Founder’s Day, which is a special occasion to remember and honor the university’s history.

October will be an important month for new students. Independence Day on October 1 will be a holiday for everyone. Then, from October 14, 100 level and Direct Entry students will arrive for verification and start their orientation program. This is when they will get to know the campus, meet their lecturers, and learn how life works at Babcock University. During this period, the Youth Week of Prayer will take place, giving students time to grow spiritually and connect with God. By October 27, these new students will begin their classes. At the same time, older students will be writing their mid-semester examinations. November will have important meetings such as the Academic Standards Board and the Senate, and there will be a special congregation event. Registration for the first semester will close for new students on November 21.

December will be full of activity. Higher-level students will have their first semester examinations from December 4 to December 18. New students will have a short mid-semester break on December 16. Then, from December 23 to January 6, everyone will enjoy the Christmas and New Year holiday break.

When January 2026 begins, the second semester will start for returning students. Staff will resume on January 7, and preparations for the semester will take place over the following days. Between January 12 and January 14, all students will be back on campus, and classes for returning students will begin on January 15. New students will still be in their first semester until early March when they will have their examinations and a short break before starting their second semester on March 9.

March will be a lively month with activities such as mid-semester exams for older students, the Career and Job Fair Week for graduating students, and the Research Fair where students will showcase their projects. April will include more academic meetings, and by late April, older students will begin their second semester examinations.

In May, younger students will write their mid-semester examinations while older students who want extra learning will join Summer School starting on May 25. Summer classes will begin on May 27 and will run until July, with mid-summer examinations in late June.

July will be one of the most exciting months of the year. Convocation Week will be filled with joy, pride, and celebration for graduating students. It will begin with a Parents’ Consultative Forum Luncheon, followed by the arrival of the graduating students. There will be a convocation lecture, alumni networking, and a graduation dinner. Activities like dress rehearsal, tree planting, and project dedication will take place. There will also be spiritual events such as the consecration service, baccalaureate, and vesper service. The highlight of the week will be the Convocation Ceremony on July 26 when graduates will proudly receive their degrees in the presence of their families and friends.

After Convocation Week, Post-SIWES students will have their mid-semester in late July and write their examinations in August, which will mark the end of the academic year.

Throughout the year, there will be other special events like the Week of Spiritual Emphasis in February, the Nigeria Association of Adventist Students Week, and public holidays such as Workers’ Day. Some events like inaugural lectures, Easter and Muslim holidays, matriculation, and professional induction ceremonies for Medicine, Nursing, and Medical Laboratory Science will have their dates announced later.

This academic year will be more than just lectures and examinations. It will be a journey of learning, growth, friendship, and special memories. New students will be stepping into a whole new world filled with opportunities, while returning students will be strengthening their knowledge and preparing for the future. Teachers and staff will work hard to guide and support students every step of the way.

By the time the session comes to an end, everyone will look back and be proud of what they have achieved. From the first registration day in August to the final examinations in August the following year, it will be a year full of challenges, successes, and unforgettable moments. Babcock University’s 2025/2026 session will not just be a timetable of events. It will be a beautiful story of dedication, success, and the bright future of its students.brTg2XAxNBygT0DgIT0zvXtySFpSluXplTZNSkG0 (1)
