The matriculation ceremony is a binding tradition where students take the Matriculation Oath, pledging their commitment to the laws of the university and the pursuit of academic excellence.

Ceremony Schedule: When and Where?

All matriculating students, parents, and well-wishers are invited to note the following:

• Date: Wednesday, 28th January 2026.

• Time: 9:00 AM Prompt.

• Venue: University Convocation Arena, RSU Campus, Port Harcourt.

Academic Gown Collection: Requirements

The Acting Registrar, Dr. Idanyingi F. Daminabo, has directed that the collection of academic regalia will commence on Friday, 23rd January 2026. Students should proceed to their respective Faculty Officers with the following documents:

1. Financial Clearance: Original evidence of payment for the Acceptance Fee and all other mandatory university charges.

2. Identification: Two (2) recent passport photographs.

3. Admission Documents: A printed copy of the online admission letter.

4. Contact Info: A valid residential address and active phone number.

Strict Return Policy and Penalties

To ensure the university’s assets are protected, a strict timeline for the return of gowns has been established. Management urges all students to be diligent to avoid heavy financial consequences.

The Timeline

• Return Deadline: On or before Friday, 30th January 2026.

• Location: Return gowns to the Faculty Officer from whom they were collected.

The Penalties

Failure to return the gown on time will trigger the following sanctions:

• Daily Fine: ₦5,000 per day for the first week after the deadline.

• Portal Deactivation: If the gown is not returned after one week, the student’s online portal will be deactivated.

• Reactivation Fee: A non-negotiable ₦10,000 penalty must be paid to reactivate the portal.
