LASU admits 14,893 as over 70,000 candidates jostling for admission

The Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, has announced that the institution admitted 14,893 students from over 70,000 applications received for the 2025/2026 academic session.

She made this known while delivering her address at the university’s matriculation ceremony held today on the main campus in Ojo, Lagos.

Prof. Olatunji-Bello urged the newly admitted students to remain committed to their studies, noting that their admission was a privilege considering the intense competition for limited spaces.

She reiterated her administration’s zero-tolerance stance on sexual and gender-based violence, which informed the establishment of the Directorate of the Centre for Response and Prevention of Sexual & Gender-Based Violence.

The Vice Chancellor also warned the students to avoid all forms of unethical behaviour, stressing that any student found wanting would face appropriate disciplinary actions in line with the university’s regulations.
